Out of everything Solomon could have asked of God, he sought something that would bring the most benefit to the people he ruled. Given a chance to receive a blessing from God, he sought a way to bless others.
Perhaps one way to think about your spiritual growth today is to seek ways you can grow in your ability to bless others. Rather than seeking financial security just for yourself, ask God to grow your generosity so that you can help others become secure. Rather than asking for safety for just yourself, ask God to show you people in your community who are vulnerable. As you seek to bless others richly, you may find that God also takes care of your needs as well.
If you are facing a challenge that appears beyond your abilities, now is a great time to lean on God, trusting in His provision. Turning your focus toward the ways you can bless others, rather than the ways you may fail, can change your prayers so that you trust fully in God’s resources for you.
Prayer: Lord, turn my eyes away from what I lack, and help me to see how You can bless others through me.
