I have tried to find a job through the help wanted ads and friends and through appling online for 5 yrs. I am correctly working for TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) it really depressing. What should I do and what can I do. It seems to me its the only job I can do.

Sorry to hear that you are unhappy in your job environment. It's not nice being in that situation.

Have you tried going to some job agencies not online, speaking to someone in the flesh, who can access you in what you would like to do for a career, then take it from there.

Greetings John,

May you know the blessing of doing all things to the glory of God, and doing with all thy might the very thing that your hand finds to do.

Dear friend, be faithful to God while in your present job, and He will make a way for you. I am sure you like to witness to the Love of God in Christ Jesus the Lord, so thank Him over and over for the opportunities ahead of you, learn to be content in Him, and in Him alone, for you are not of this world, and you will not find peace from all that the world offers.

Remember that your life is hid in Christ, and know that He has good and only good planned for you. Each day is a delight of His care for you, and I encourage you to rejoice in the little bits and discover more of His tender mercy.

May your light so shine...

Bless you!

Br. Bear.

John, I can certainly understand that working in a correctional facility may be depressing. Have you considered taking courses in an area of interest, and remaining there until you are in a position to leave? I have always believed that nothing happens by chance, that there is always a purpose. Sometimes we may not understand until later. It could be that God has placed you there temporarily, to witness to those who do not know Him, and are in need of salvation. Stay in prayer and ask Him for guidance. Praise Him for the job you have, and trust in Him to open closed doors. My prayers are with you.

Prv 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psa 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Hello brother John. Not sure what your feeling 100%, besides being depressed at your current job. Some things to consider as shown in Scripture

Pray the Father's will be done

Matthew 6:9-11

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Mark 11:23-25

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Forgiveness and Prayer

25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Hello JOhn.......Talk is cheap.....I am fully aware.

I say that to cover my words when I say that with Jesus in your life......you cannot go under for going over.........the Master is on board.

Seems a common thing for folks to have hard times.......indeed, and without doubt. Christian, and non Christian alike. The difference being that you are looking to Jesus. And no matter how you feel, remember God loves you and will bring you through.

"Back of the clouds the sun is always shining......" I am sure you will see that sunshine before very long.....keep looking unto Him

I know I am kind of late to replay Brother John but better to be late than never

Could it be God kept you in Department of Criminal Justice for a purpose?

I encourage you first to ask God what is his purpose of keeping you their for five years.

Praying for you

John, I think the immediate best thing you can do is look for counseling from the chaplain at the facility you are assigned to for the depression issue with an eye toward getting that taken care of first. It seems to me that depression is a major drawback in a job search.

Seek God's will

Hi Bro. John,

Though my brother you have tried to look for a job for quite long, have you sought God's will in all these? God has a purpose as to why you are in that job. When Christ is in your life this means that you no longer live for yourself but for Him. Share with Him all that you feel and as you pray, just be honest and tell Him exactly what you want (if you want Him to give you another job or what you want) but at the end of it tell Him to have His way, His will and not yours to be done.

Maybe God wants you to learn something at this time. Personally, I do not always understand why some things happen in my life, but you know what, its not about me anymore, but its all about Jesus. My life is His' and I no longer live for myself. And so He knows all about us, the clothes we put on, the food we eat, the jobs we are in...He knows it all just seek His will.

Re: How do I get a job...........

John, here are scriptures to think about while you're mulling over this issue :

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (Col 3:23-24).

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you kinow that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free." (Eph 6:5-8)

God has a good reason for delaying action on your petition. It may be that there are some people (staff or inmates) at that institution that he wants to draw to himself through you.

Hi John,

if it has taken you 5 years to look for another job without success, maybe it is because God has placed you there for a purpose which you have not yet fulfilled. To be honest I am actually reminded of the story of Jonah, who (just incase you didn't know) tried to run away from God's purpose unsuccessfully. I am sure that there is, or there a people you work with or come across that God want's you to speak to about His forgiveness and saving grace. Sometimes it's the very person you sit next to everyday or eat lunch with. Once you start fulfilling God's purpose, you will begin to find fullfillment in your job and enjoyment.

I believe you're not there just because it's the only job you can do, if God had a purpose for you anywhere else He would have opened a door of opportunity for you already. There must be people there who need to hear about God, considering where you're working.

O.K. Godbless in whatever decision you decide to make.
