How do I know that the dream is from God?

Good morning fellow TJ members.
Before I post the question, I need to give you some background as to why I am asking the question: Since I got saved (20 odd years ago), I had this "day dream" that I will be singing the Gospel in all sorts of places (not necessarily in a church in other words). I never studied singing as such, but had piano lessons since I was six, so yes, I am currently in the praise & worship music team as a keyboard player. I didn't study my degree in music, because I couldn't get myself to study secular music. So for me playing in church is having the 2 best things in my life all in one.
But every now and then something in me will stir regarding me singing. Our Pastor is doing a series on "the purpose of church", which got me thinking about my "dream" again. And a friend (who is a professional musician) encouraged me to sing (which got me all excited again). And the thought just would not leave me.
But...and there is always a but...is this what God wants for me? I don't want to put anyone in the team out, I don't want anyone to feel that I am "promoting" myself.
How do I know? What steps do I need to take to get the answer from God?
Have a blessed day :singing:

This is an easier one to answer. Faith pleases the Lord. Take a step of faith into singing more, and if God opens doors for you with it, take them, if no doors open, then it may be that he just wants you to be a wearer of a new garment!! A garment of praise through song!! Not mattering how much it blesses others, for its mostly for the Lord!

Of course Fasting causes us to hear Him much better and we can talk back and forth with HIM.

I am a strong believer in the true church fasting . I found it only takes three full days water only and reading the bible and Praying asking Him to help us get though it .
The 2nd day the hardest, satan will use people and even put dumb thoughts in your mind to get you to stop.

satan fears the true church walking in there spirit .

he does not want us Hearing God perfectly and be able to serve HIM perfectly .

Thank you @BradHuber and @spirit1st, for your insights. @BradHuber, I particularly like the bit where you said "he just wants you to be a wearer of a new garment!! A garment of praise through song!! Not mattering how much it blesses others, for its mostly for the Lord!" And time will tell about the doors opening or not. Faith is very much part of this, and also obedience for me to do this daily and as often as I can. @Spriti1st, thank you for reminding me again how important fasting is. Unfortunately I haven't practised that discipline for a while, and working full time makes it a little difficult for me. But I'm sure if I start small, God will know and He will still provide answers.
Because God is great, with the Name above all others! He is true, even when I am not. He is strong when I am weak. He is more than I can say.

I agree with @Brad Huber and @spirit1st

Pray about it and relax. Believe that you will get an answer from GOD. He surely is pleased to provide one for those who seek Him in prayer! Don't let it stress you either.

Thank you @Chad for your reply. Yes, prayer is powerful indeed. And yes, I tend to stress about things in my life :( And I am searching for the Bible passage where Jesus says that we don't have to worry about tomorrow, it has enough of it's own troubles, but I can't seem to put my finger on it this morning hahaha And this is typical the Holy Spirit, to remind me of the scripture, when I don't remember :-)
At this stage I am praying about my dream, and also started to prepare. I asked my Pastor whether I will be allowed to lead the congregation with a certain song, and I am having an "audition" during the next few weeks. And yes, I am excited about it. And I believe that when I do what I can, God will do what I can not. And I also believe that all will work out exactly like it should, because God is in control, and He knows what happens tomorrow and the day after.
Isn't God a great God?
I feel a bit like David of old, starting with a negative but ending with a positive - in God!

Mat_6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

I can tell you ? We need to talk with the LORD and tell Him what we would like . He is LORD of all for sure .But He allowing us to do as we will to some degree?

He will allow us to mess up if we really want in most cases ? Also we need to spell it our clearly to Him . Other wise . He do it as He feels is best for us and the GLORY of our LORD JESUS .
