Romans 8:26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers[a] in harmony with God’s own will. NLT

Romans 8:26 Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with [a]groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the [b]saints according to the will of God. NASB

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. NIV

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because[a] the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. ESV

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. KJV

For Pentecostal disciples who can pray in the Holy Spirit this is what we enjoy when we pray in tongues

Romans 8:26 And in like manner the Spirit also helps our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes mightily for us with groanings unutterable;
8:27 and who searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to God.

1Cor 2:10 For to us [Pentecostal disciples] God revealed through the Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the depths of God.
2:11 For who among men knows the things of the man, save the spirit of the man in him? even so the things of God none knows, save the Spirit of God.
2:12 But WE received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things freely given to us of God.

"groanings unutterable" = praying in tongues = unutterable by our own understanding or speech.

Thank you for sharing, even though I voted #5 FYI.

Inquiry #1 Why is it necessary for the Holy Spirit to say anything out loud thru us when the Father knows before we even ask Him in prayer?

Matthew 6: 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Inquiry #2 Do you read Romans 8:26-27 in the KJV is the same as you read all those other 4 versions of Romans 8:26-27 in the OP?

Hello @God4Us,

* God is indeed 'for' us! He delights in the believer, and delights to meet our needs in Christ Jesus our Lord. :)

----------------

* In verses 16-18 of the passage under consideration (Romans 8:26-27), we see the Hoy Spirit's witness with the New Nature, as to our STANDING as the Sons of God.

'The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, (or new nature)
.. that we are the children of God:
.... And if children, then heirs;
...... heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
........ if so be that we suffer with him,
.......... that we may be also glorified together.(with Him)
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time
are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us.'
(Rom 8:16-18)

* In verses 26 & 27, we see the The Holy Spirit Himself helping our infirmities owing to our STATE, by His intercession.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
.. for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:
.... but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us
...... with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And He (i.e., The Holy Spirit) that searcheth the hearts
.. knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
... because He maketh intercession for the saints
...... according to the will of God.'
(Rom 8:26-27)

* Verses 19-21 reveal creation waiting to share the coming glory of this manifestation of the liberty of the glory.
* Verses 22-25 reveal creation uniting its groaning with ours waiting for the manifestation of our resurrection glory.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

'For we know that if our earthly house
of this tabernacle
were dissolved,
we have a building of God,
an house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens.
For in this we groan,
earnestly desiring to be clothed upon
with our house which is from heaven:
If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon,
that mortality might be swallowed up of life.'
(2Cor. 5:1-4)

Praise God!

First off, thank you for sharing. I assume you voted #5 as well that the Holy Spirit makes silent intercessions for each and every believer He inhabits for why tongues are not involved for that purpose.

A couple of questions for clarification regarding how you are applying that reference below to mean..

Below is brought out of quote to read better.

Question #1 How do you know for sure that this "he" is the Holy Spirit?

Question #2 If it is the Holy Spirit, doesn't it create a grammatical error by this "he" that is separate from us in searching our hearts and thus this same "he" is separate from the Spirit to know the mind of?

Question #3 Could this "he" be the Word of God aka Jesus Christ, the Son of God, that searches our hearts that knows the mind of the Spirit because Jesus, being the only Mediator between God and man, has to give all intercessions to the Father which is in according to the will of God because whenever the Father says yes to any of those intercessions, be it yours & mine, or the Son's or the silent intercessions of the Holy Spirit's as given by the Son to the Father, the Son answers the prayers so that the Father may be glorified in the Son for answers to prayers?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

It would seem to avoid that grammatical error when we apply that "he" being Jesus that searches our hearts and knows the mind of the Spirit as He has to give all intercessions to the father Himself because the Son Himself answers prayers for the sole purpose that the Father may receive thanks in Jesus's name for answers to prayers.

Anyway, I put those questions out there for you to discern with Him to confirm to you the truth in His words there for that reference.
* Verses 19-21 reveal creation waiting to share the coming glory of this manifestation of the liberty of the glory.
* Verses 22-25 reveal creation uniting its groaning with ours waiting for the manifestation of our resurrection glory.
Tying in this portion of your quote above to the next post for my next question.
'For we know that if our earthly house
of this tabernacle
were dissolved,
we have a building of God,
an house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens.
For in this we groan,
earnestly desiring to be clothed upon
with our house which is from heaven:
If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon,
that mortality might be swallowed up of life.'
(2Cor. 5:1-4)

Praise God!

:)
Question: are you inferring our groanings is being shared by the Holy Spirit's or with the Holy spirit's groanings? Or...?

Since the KJV has His groanings which cannot be uttered, I am certain He is not groaning right along with us, even though He can be grieved and does have groans but since He cannot utter anything from Himself in expressing Himself per John 16:13, therefore any groanings we utter are our own as far as I can tell by the scriptures.
Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Choices #3 & #4 were for those offended by #1 & #2 to reply in sarcasm to show that offense.

I was not offended because I know #1 & #2 are not true.

Hence my vote for # 5.

But there may be Christians out there that do not know better and are hurting because of that falsehood of #1 & #2.

Nowadays tongue speakers also falsely use the scripture Romans 8:26. Romans 8:26 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” However, speaking in tongues is “words” and not groans. This scripture is about when we are weak and all we can do is groan, as when we are in great despair–then the Spirit intercedes for us to God, for we do not even have to speak words. The Spirit doesn’t intercede for us by groaning to the Father for us, but intercedes for us with words that we were too distraught to say.
