When I had first given my life to the Lord I was so happy and had such a zeal for Him. I wanted to do everything I could for Him and for others. But some things happened along the way in the church I was in and at first I kept going but after almost 7 years I couldn't handle being there anymore. Well my husband and I moved away and I went to different churches for about a year but never felt right again. I lost my zeal, I wasn't happy anymore, and then I got to where I couldn't feel God like I use to. I ended up quitting all together and even started doing the bad things I once done before. But after a few months I asked the Lord to forgive me and to come back into my life. I am attending a church now and am content with where I am at but I still don't feel God like I use to. I wonder if anyone could help me figure out what I could do to regain a solid relationship with Him? I want to feel Him again :(

Don't rely on emotions, they will come when you are right with God. You may not find a perfect church to properly guide you, so begin reading scripture regularly, and EXPECT God to speak to you through those words, and if you do, He will.

closeness comes from an intimate relationship or Knowalge of the one you wish to be close to ,,,Pray and seek His word God will not with hold any good thing from us including a personal close relationship ,,He watches for us to seek Him so he can rush to that end .like the father in the prodical son He watches for us ...Rev

Know the son know the father, repent and restore what you have lost and remind yourself of the words spoken by Jesus. Try praying outside feel the wind he provided blow across your face and be closer to nature the only thing that puts distance between us and the holy trio is ourselves.

The basics really:
1. Pray (ask, receive, believe when you ask). Ask for the Holy Spirit to rekindle your passion and zeal, and He will.
2. Listen to Worship music (my advice, anything Hillsong / Hillsong Live / Hillsong United rocks the worship house)
3. Surround yourself with godly believers. Fellowship is crucial to spiritual growth.

I think there is often a pink cloud experience that lasts for a time after one comes to Christ. That's what happened in my case, but I stayed in the small group that He used to bring that about and those folks provided the guidance needed to start getting grounded in God's Word and spiritually growing. Eventually God led me to the church He had intended for me and I've grown in my relationship with Him ever since.

Mrs.Davis I sure believe like you, most all of us have been through much of the same pain as you have! For a while as a baby believer we know God's hand is not only holding us but we can even feel his presence most days in our life. Then it happens!! God hides!!( Isaiah 45:15) We look around, and where has he gone? Then feeling and emotion look to put the amplify this!! Jesus never leaves or forsakes us sis!

But there is a purpose to his hiding, most never understand! As we all know God is all knowing, but we are not,nor is the devil,so the Lord hides for a while from us to see how we handle the time we are finally being allowed to mature and grow.(2Chronicles 32:31) As we see from verse 24 Hezekiah became very ill but his heart had become proud( verse 25) In verse 26 he humbles himself. You see he got so used to God,he took him for granted,he stopped being thankful! ( 1 thess 5:18!!!!) The very will of God for our lives, each day of our lives!!

Now scan down to verse 31!!God left him alone only to test him! Same with us to sis! That HE might,or in this case that we might know all that is within our own heart!!( 2 cor 13:5!!) It is easy to forget this, is it not sis?? hehe When you remember how thankful you are now, like you used to be,God will show himself again to you. It is our choice in the matter sis! But the sooner you go back to reading his Word daily, praying daily, and most importantly acknowledge him!! in all areas of your life like you use to!!( proverbs 3:6)

You will understand the test to mature sis! Took me about 2 weeks of remembering!!But God's love rewards those who trust upon his word, and not upon feeling and emotion to get into his word!!( heb 11:6) May this encourage you sister and i learned much from the Lord as well in my own life, when I forgot! You will find something out sis!! You will never forget ever again!! amen!! And so you mature and grow!! amen! DAILY!!

James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...drawing near means to read His Word, to pray, to worship Him...to get near Him. To be silent before Him. To be still and know that He is God. When we draw near to Him...this verse James 4:8 says that He will draw near to us. It is a promise that I remind myself of a lot. :)

I look at it this way, once we know the truth you can either walk the righteous path or run alongside the devil. And whether I feel like god has abandoned me or I have wondered from the path I know which is the right one to walk and will continue to try, at last we know "jesus loves us" for the bible tells us so !!!

It may be hard when you have feelings of abandonment or if you feel like you are slipping from the right path, but repent, and continue to strife to do gods will practice what is preached to you from our savior and remember you are loved regardless. And if like myself sometimes you just think its hopeless which path would you want to be remembered for walking regardless of any outcome ?

As brighthouse summarized we are continually tested in our faith....

At times, I think we make it so complicated. It isn't! To have God close to us...we get close to Him.

It's like with me and my husband. If i want to be close to him, I walk over to him. If we want to be close to God, we "walk over" to Him! We just go to where He is! Maybe not physically, but we can get there spiritually. Read His Word. Worship. Pray. The Bible says to "enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise." So start to thank Him for what He has done and what He will do and then praise Him! :) Not complex, simple, but overlooked. The formula is easier than any equation in math or science. :)
