Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words. Nevertheless Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah implored the king not to burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them. Jeremiah 36:24-25 NKJV

The king of Judah burned the scroll containing Jeremiah’s message of God’s judgment and the coming Babylonian invasion. Although the Lord gave the people every chance to repent, they resisted even listening to God’s messenger in the first place, showing just how set they were in their ways.

An open and humble heart and a mind that is quick to listen are essential for God’s people to live at peace with others and in harmony with Him.

Perhaps you can’t imagine what could happen if you resisted God’s message for you. Maybe you feel like you are too far gone down your own path to change. Yet the Lord is always willing to forgive those who are willing to respond with repentance and reverence. If you fear the power of God and the consequences that you will one day reap, you have an invitation to begin again today with the help of His mercy and grace.

Prayer: Lord, help me to respond to Your Word with a humble, reverent heart, remembering that You are both merciful and just.

In the New Covenant, God does not rebuke His children. He does not chastise His children. God corrects using the Word...Rebukes and chastisement express sharp disaproval and God draws us lovingly and tenderly to right behavior.

Uh….excuse me! God doesn’t chastise his children? If your not being chastised, you are not his child. Period!
I get a good spanking nearly every day. You should re-evaluate your relationship with him. Seriously

So r u claiming YH changed? :eyes: :scream:

and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
Nor faint when you are reproved by Him;

But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you do not experience discipline like everyone else, then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?

Greetings,

Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail.
Lamentations 3:22

I get a good spanking nearly every day.

I find it very hard to honestly accept that you get "a good spanking... "

Perhaps a gentle quite whisper, instead?

If not, can you please be so kind as to tell us what 'good spanking' you received for the last three days?

Some children do get regular beatings and are on the receiving end of harsh treatment, daily, from a parent or guardian. Some, from their masters/owners. Do you know anyone like that?

The LORD knows our frames and...
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Psalm 103:10

Bless you ....><>

Brother,I don’t know about you,but when I sin, there is a lot more than a gentle whisper. There is an intense inside agony that lasts until I pray and get it taken care of.

Greetings in the Lord,
Title of the O.P.
On my knees, face in the dirt, crying out for forgiveness of my stupidity.

I do not desire anyone go against the righteous commandments of God. The punishment could be quite severe. I speak from experience. My life was spared, while another was not.

Perhaps, you have not read abt King David and Bethsheba, or Jonah, or Judas.

Perhaps you do not know, to fear the Lord, is the beginning of wisdom.

I encourage all, do not do it. He sees all, hears all, knows all (about it).
You can not hide, ask our brother David.
You can not run, ask our brother Jonah.
You can not sneek, ask Judas.

God humbles me, even more.
All praise glory and honor be unto God. Amen

I like everyone begin with pride, then anger and after inward turmoil and perhaps at times sleepless nights, I finally have to surrender.

Greetings in the Lord,
Did Jesus not rebuke Peter, openly, before all the disciples?

Yes, yes he did.

Keep reading, and lean not to your own understanding.

All praise glory and honor be unto God. Amen

In the common understanding of the word 'chastise', no God does not chastise His kids....The bible, in the original Greek uses the word 'paideia' which means "instruction, correction, nurturing" Not corporal punishment. That's what I meant here. No corporal punishment for His kids. So if you're getting corporal punishment, you may want to check the source.

If you're referring to where Jesus sais "Get thee behind me...." He was not talking to Peter

Sorry...that's the way my dying brain understands things
@lentz

Our Fellow Member @Admon Mikha'el is not fairing as well as others and his brain is at times causing him some grief.

I only write this in order to clarify his reply to you
Otherwise, it could easily be misunderstood and/or interpreted incorrectly.

I know fellow Member @Admon Mikha'el can talk for himself and that any personal information might be preferred to be exchanged in private.

Bless you both ....><>

I do understand that this is a devotional but we do have to understand what is being said, in a biblical way.
Dear Brother,
Did you understand what was meant by the devotional? If so, then it served its purpose...at least I hope so. If not, then try reading the closing prayer again. It should be beneficial. Not just to you, but to all who have fallen short at one time or another in their lives.

For your interest, if you'd like. Take a look at the OT/Hebrew on how many different words are used to express what we use the word "Rebuke" as meaning/suggesting. :)

However, I do apologize to you for failing to convey what was meant to help and not to be argued about in this devotional.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
