How does one know that one is growing spiritually ?

Because we walk More in LOVE. The goal is too LOVE. Does not matter how much we know. It matters how much we LOVE.
We are All trying to be more like LOVE in the flesh mind. GOD is LOVE ,JESUS Christ is LOVE.
Love will make you Humble and Bold.

I am confident that when I am producing godly fruit (the fruit of the Spirit) that I am walking close to His heart; one cannot walk close to Him without changing and maturing. The fruit we produce is after all an outward expression of His inward working. Also, when I am walking close to Him the things that would have weighed me down do not appeal to me or affect me.

You are growing if you are not dead. This is the way of the flesh, but it reflects the way of the Spirit. Too many people are walking around in bodies of flesh, but in the eyes of God they are dead. That you ask the question you have is an indication of at least a spark of Life. Completely dead people have no real interest in growing. They have no real interest in real Life.
Real Life is Jesus:
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" John 11:25
A growing child is interested in learning all that he can. A growing child asks questions. A growing child of God has Life. A growing child of God talks to the one that he loves. God on the other hand answers those that love Him. Where is God? He is in your heart when you make room for Him. Those who love Him make room daily.
What doe the scripture mean when it say to "pray without ceasing" and to "rejoice in the Lord alway"? One with Life will come to the point of doing both. For the flesh this is impossible, but for God in us, nothing is impossible.

By the fruit of the Spirit you know you are growing.
You know if your FEEDING IT.
1Pe_2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
The main thing is feeding it GOD living Words. If we not reading the bible ? Then it not being fed. It very simple.
God made it all so simple so us.
We are little children to HIM. So He teaches us as a little child. Once we mature. He then reveals the deeper things we need to know.
Heb_13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Listen , little kids depend on there Dads and MOMS . We must depend on Him as His child.
He really wants to bless us.

We are just like our LORD JESUS CHRIST in our new creature [our Spirit man]
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
We just need to live more in our spirit man .
That why He share His throne with us. Our desires is like HIS. Our spirit only wants to Please GOD as He did and does.
We just do not have all the knowledge.
