How will People be Judged?

Sin....
It's an unpopular word. Nobody likes to talk about it anymore.
Even some preachers and churches avoid that word. Why is that do you think?
How do you think we will be judged? Some teach that as long as you believe in Jesus, you won't be judged.
But that's not what the Bible says...

How will people be judged?

John 5:27; and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.
John 5:28; "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
John 5:29; and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

Who's doing the judging here? Jesus. How will He judge these people? By their deeds.
Those who did good deeds go to heaven. Those who did evil deeds go to hell. It really is that simple.

Matt 16:27; "For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS.

Jesus is going to repay everyone according to what they have done. Good deeds = good payment. Evil deeds = bad payment.

Rom 2:2; And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.
Rom 2:3; But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?
Rom 2:4; Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
Rom 2:5; But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
Rom 2:6; who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS:
Rom 2:7; to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;
Rom 2:8; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
Rom 2:9; There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,

Again we see here, Jesus will repay people ( even Gentiles ) ... according to what they say they believe? No, according to their deeds.
Unrepentant people will face the wrath of God. Those who do good will receive glory, honor, and immortality.

2Cor 5:10; For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Yet a forth time, we see that Jesus is going to judge people. They are going to get what's coming to them..
"whether good or bad".

Jude 1:14; It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,
Jude 1:15; to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

Several of the verses above have the word "deeds". What's a deed? It's what you do. How you live.
Jude says Jesus is coming back to execute judgment of the ungodly, who do ungodly deeds.

Rev 2:22' 'Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.

Jesus tells the church.. "the church" .. of Thyatira that they need to repent... of their "deeds".
He knows the church says they believe in Him. That isn't the problem, it's their deeds.

Rev 20:12; And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
Rev 20:13; And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

I see no where in the Bible it says we will be judged by what we believe. Don't get me wrong, faith in Jesus is definitely required for Salvation, but that's not what we get judged on.

There are a lot of "Christians" who think they are saved. Now I don't want to get into OSAS and all that. Some people will say they were never saved in the first place. Maybe so, for the
purpose of this thread, it really doesn't matter. The point is.. they "think" they are saved. They believe in Jesus, and that's all they care about.

Jas 2:19; You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

Even the demons believe. But are they saved? No.

Matt 7:21; "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Matt 7:22; "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
Matt 7:23; "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

Not everyone who believes Jesus is Lord will enter heaven. They believe Jesus is Lord, at least they say they do. But they still practice sin ( lawlessness ).

Tit 1:16; They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

People say they know God, but they live like they don't. They are denying God even though they don't know it.

Matt 25:11; "Later the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, lord, open up for us.'
Matt 25:12; "But he answered, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'

The five foolish virgins, they believed Jesus was Lord. They called Him "Lord". They thought they were saved.

Luke 13:25; "Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'
Luke 13:26; "Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets';
Luke 13:27; and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.'

This passage is similar to the one in Matthew, they people listen to the preacher, they even knew the Bible teachings, ... they thought they were saved.
So then if they believed in Jesus, why weren't they saved? Because they were "evildoers". They were still doing evil deeds, even though they said they were Christians.

1Jn 2:3; By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
1Jn 2:4; The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

There are a few people, right here on TalkJesus. Who say the commandments don't matter, good deeds can't get me into heaven. .. and that's true.
But bad deeds can certainly keep you out. Based on the passage above, I would say we have a few liars here on TalkJesus. I don't need to name them.
They name themselves.

1Cor 7:19; Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

These people think they are saved. They say "I have come to know Him". But they don't obey Him, they still live in sin. These people are liars.

God has to judge all according to their deeds as it is required of a just and fair God Job 34:12. He can show no partiality Acts 10:34. All the scripture you have quoted proves to all that God is good and just.

I will just add that true repentance washes us clean of sin. We will not be judged for any sin we have truly repented of. Saying 'I believe' means naught if there is no true repentance. Faith for a belief that is of any value is given by God Rom 12:3, Matt 16:16-17, 1 Cor 12:3. Jesus only 'comes in' when we repent Rev 3:20, Psalm 51:17, Mark 1:15, Luke 5:32. This is where OSAS also comes in, but sure a discussion for another thread.

At the end of the day once all is said and done, the simple reality is that 1. We are all sinners, 2. Those that repent will gladly live next to each other in heaven and 3. nobody in heaven, absolutely nobody will choose to live next to any unrepentant sinner, no matter the sin. As such they have to be removed to another home.

IE God does not rank us by our deeds to determine if we belong in heaven or hell. Deeds determine the blessing in heaven and punishment in hell. The desire to sin comes from the heart as does the desire to truly repent of and 'hate' sin Matt 12:34. But, fortunately for all God is able to judge the the depth of the heart Jer 17:9-12. This is why heaven and hell are eternal destinations and something like universalism from rehabilitation is not possible.

Another point to note is the fact that we all sin and all the time. Literally daily. It is very possible to die before you get a chance to repent of your sins as you are always committing bad deeds. Nobody can keep the law perfectly and as Jesus says 'only God is good' Mark 10:18. Paul explains in Rom 7:15 that he does what he hates. For me that is a key fact to note. A good person will hate what is evil, this will lead to inevitable repentance. Paul gives all a clear instruction on how to live daily in Rom 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good and Phil 12:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

You are not properly grasping how easy it is to be guilty of sin. Sin is doing anything that is against God's will.

If you stall in serving Him = sin. If you not serving Him = sin. If you think an immoral thought = sin.

The only way to not be guilty of sin, is to 1. Switch off ALL media. No cell phone, no internet, no television. 2. Serve Him as Jesus did. 100% devotion. Selflessness.

Are you busy reading the newspaper for too long and not visiting and preaching to the unsaved? Are you busy eating too many doughnuts and not doing any charity work today?

To be perfect in a day we would need to be Jesus for a day. Who can do that? nobody.

If we just look at someone we can have a sinful thought. Even if we lock ourselves up in a room the whole day, we will have sinful thoughts.

You obviously dont understand the power of God through Christ to break bad habits, but it does require some effort on your part, and with that attitude, you will no doubt continue sinning daily. You first realize you are broken and consider those habits to be repugnant, and hate them, then cry out to our Lord for help "daily, or hourly even, and He will not ignore you. Being in prayer more often than not also helps, with your mind focused on God, just talking to him like Adam did, about anything and everything, so often that your mind is on Him more often and makes you more alert to that slippery slope.

Maybe in heaven we can go some days and weeks without sinning. Not on earth. Not a chance.

A. Doing charity work and thinking pure thoughts? Jesus dedicated 100% of His time to the work of the Father Matt 16:24.
B. Ignoring your conscience convicting you of not doing something for God and rather watching the television, cooking or going shopping?
C. Something else that is selfish.

If you are B or C you are in sin.

If you are A, the devil will be attacking your thoughts and you will be sinning.
