I am right and you are wrong

Wow good on him for serving still at 92.

I was thinking how its wives who are often the unsung heroines of ministry. Without their help and support many men would not be able to accomplish what they do because they cant do it all alone.

One of the pastor in the church I go to is in his 60s and his wife passed away a few years ago, hes living with his grandson now Im sure he will be helping him.

My dad is always on the computer but mum wont have a bar of it and they are the same age. My dad can also txt but mum was convinced by my siblings to have a cellphone but she doesnt even know how to use it. Try showing it to her and she wont learn because she doesnt practice it. The same with driving.

I always thought if education was so important to mum why doesnt she go back to school theres heaps of adult learners but she doesnt want to know, some people just dont want to learn...its not that they cant its they dont want to. Not everything you learn you will succeed at but theres always something to learn!

You can go to university these days if you like without university entrance you can do a foundation course and you dont have to have good marks from high school. Or if you didnt finish you can go back and finish..just need time theres even FREE education, and a lot of support out there for students, libraries are free..ok am on a spiel now but the whole reason I became a librarian theres so much you carn learn for FREE when you read books.

But i find many people just not interrested and closed off to learning and boasting how they never read any books and just watch tv. Sigh.

Indeed, in my pastor's case his wife's death left an enormous gap in his life. As I said myself and some few others help out with some things, but of course, in many ways she's not replaceable.

It's good when a family member and is willing and able to help in that way. Too many are not. They simply don't want to be bothered.

I certainly hear you on this. I'm the one who's on the computer daily mostly on Christian forums. My wife texts a couple of out of state friends regularly whereas I never text and seldom use even the telephone [land line or cell phone] other than for absolute necessities and then minimally.

Several years ago when I retired [year 2000] I began cutting way back on my driving because I knew my reflexes were diminishing and I did not enjoy it as I once did. My wife was more than willing to take up the slack, but now with her going through many health problems she has given most of the necessary driving back to me. I like to lean back and nap leaving the driving to her. Napping is not really an option when you're in the driver's seat.

My wife and I have both always been readers, although our reading interests vary a good bit. We both however begin our day reading from the scripture. She only got a high school education while I attended university and got one degree. Nevertheless in a number of areas she is main resource. She is better at diagnosing health problems than most physician I know. She would have made a great medical doctor.

But i find many people just not interrested and closed off to learning and boasting how they never read any books and just watch tv. Sigh.

My wife watches more TV than me, but she usually watches a better set of programs than I do. Some days I don't turn the thing on, but when I do I will usually look for some of the very old shows that I watched back before I was married. Sometimes there are none and I will put on one of the DVDs I recorded many years ago in anticipation.

I think tv can be very addictive for many people, as child growing up in a world where everyone had a tv and you were expected to watch it with everyone else I just think back on how many hours were wasted on mind numbing cartoons and advertising for stuff we didnt even need.

I think parents should be more careful on what their children are watching but you cant tell them now because they use tv as a hypnotic device themselves. I know many children now have trouble with short attention spans because their parents only ever pay attention to them in commerical breaks. The rest of the time their eyes are glued to the tv. If you waved your hands in front of them they wouldnt even blink.

God tells us be still and know he is God, but today people are just told to sit still and watch tv. Parents think if a child is watching tv they are out of mischief but its actually putting mischief into their brains. And most children only watch tv cos they are bored and have nothing to do! Because they arent using their imaginations, and their parents arent giving them any guidance or showing them things to do.

I mean now you can learn how to covet, lie, commit adultery, blaspheme, fornicate, argue, murder and steal just by watching tv for a day. Or not even for a day just watch the news and more often than not they will show footage of people killing and abusing each other, and boasting and not giving any glory to God.

I think my mum would have been a great seamstress or fashion designer she has all the skills but I think they are going to waste. She has a good eye for detail.

My mum never went to high school she was forced to work in a factory. Her mum made her lie about her age so she could earn money to look after her seven siblings.

I think back then times were much tougher esp in other countries but you can make a new start in nz and dont. Need to carry on the baggage of the past. Some things you can learn and dont need perfect english for...as long as someone teaches you the basics and keep building on that as you learn. But i think many people think its too hard and give up easily.
