God loves me? Think again.
Malachi 1:2-3
I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons in the wilderness.

Romans 9:13
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Greetings,

God loves me? Think again.
Malachi 1:2-3
I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons in the wilderness.

Romans 9:13

These verses imply that God does hate some people

are there any other Scripture and more specifically, people that state the same?

Bless you ....><>

God was showing in Jacob and Esau the difference between our first man, which is flesh, and the elect of God like Jacob, who are born again of the Spirit of promise.

Romans 9:8-13

King James Version

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

It is what the the children of the flesh do (= sin) that God Hates.

Hebrews 12:15-16

King James Version

15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.”

God takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked.

Psalm 5:4
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

Ezekiel 18:23
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

Ezekiel 33:11
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

When you read on, the Lord was punishing the people of Esau due to their wickedness for why his heritage was wasted.
Romans 9:13

Best take Romans 9:13 in context.

Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Esau gave up his birthright for a meal and that is why he was hated.

Genesis 25:29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

Because Esau despised his birth right was why God allowed Jacob tricked him out of it.

Genesis 27:34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.
35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.
36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

But it is important to note that Esau was blessed anyway even though Esau did not like the blessing.

It is the same as the prodigal son that gave up his inheritance for wild living. Even though the prodigal son can never get it back, he is still son. So there is still love there, but the loss of the birth right & the inheritance is permanent.

It is like those unrepentant saints & former believers that get left behind at the rapture for not being ready because they were in iniquity still. They may miss out on the firstfruits of the resurrection, but they are still in His House as vessels unto dishonor, vessels of wood & earth, to be resurrected after the great tribulation to serve the King of kings on earth. They can never be that vessel unto honor in His House but by being vessels unto dishonor, they show the power of God in salvation & His mercy for all those who believe in Him, even in His name for how and why they are still in His House. That's God's love there too as a Father towards disobedient children. Hebrews 12:1-11 & Luke 12:40-49 KJV

While you have breath, Jesus can forgive you and help you abide in Him to not live in sin when you trust in Him as your Good Shepherd & Friend to help you to follow Him. So hope in Him today.

Do not look to yourself by keeping a commitment or a promise to follow Him but rather ask Him to set you free from such man made bondages & look to Him and hope in Him and His words to you that He will help you to follow Him.

Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage...
..5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:...
...11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure....
...8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1
:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

I know deep down inside that it is too late for me to come to God. My inner voice tells me.

I know deep down inside that it is too late for me to come to God. My inner voice tells me.
Ignore that inner voice. Believe His words.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Remember Paul was Saul as a persecutor of Christians. He had succeeded in riling up the Jews into stoning Stephen to death, and yet on the road to Damascus, Jesus appeared to Saul to stop him & call him into the ministry..

1 Timothy 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

The guy that wrote Amazing Grace song was a murderer also. He even threw over a load of black slaves to save the ship from sinking in a storm.

Jesus asked the Father to forgive them for they know not what they do while they were crucifying Him on the cross.

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

So while you draw breath, it is not too late when you realize He came into the world to save sinners just like you & me.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

yes! Based on their acceptance or rejection of Him and all He would provide.

Hello I just wanted to update. I’ve read about revelation 22 18-19. Is it blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (unforgivable)? It concerns me.
Here is a video that Goes into depth of what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit truly is but doesn’t mention revelation 22 18-19, So that means it’s forgivable?

When studying the Bible, it is critically important to always study the context of a particular Bible verse or passage. In these instances, the prophet Malachi and the apostle Paul are using the name “Esau” to refer to the Edomites, who were the descendants of Esau. Isaac and Rebekah had two sons, Esau and Jacob. God chose Jacob (whom He later renamed “Israel”) to be the father of His chosen people, the Israelites. God rejected Esau (who was also called “Edom”) and did not choose him to be the father of His chosen people. Esau and his descendants, the Edomites, were in many ways blessed by God (Genesis 33:9; Genesis chapter 36).

So, considering the context, God loving Jacob and hating Esau has nothing to do with the human emotions of love and hate. It has everything to do with God choosing one man and his descendants and rejecting another man and his descendants.

God chose Abraham out of all the men in the world. The Bible very well could say, “Abraham I loved, and every other man I hated.” God chose Abraham’s son Isaac instead of Abraham’s son Ishmael. The Bible very well could say, “Isaac I loved, and Ishmael I hated.” Romans chapter 9 makes it abundantly clear that loving Jacob and hating Esau was entirely related to which of them God chose.

Hundreds of years after Jacob and Esau had died, the Israelites and Edomites became bitter enemies. The Edomites often aided Israel’s enemies in attacks on Israel. Esau’s descendants brought God’s curse upon themselves. Genesis 27:29 tells Israel, “May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.” Finally, the words used for hate here are words that indicate a foe one detests. The anger one feels for another who is constantly coming against them.

Because Esau (Edom) continually and unrepentantly opposed Jacob (Israel) and God , God rejected him and his offspring.

Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament, it was the last book to be written, 430 bc, about 100 years after the Jews returned to Israel from the captivity of the Assyrians, then the Babylonians and then the Medes and Persians.

This book starts off with a huge statement from God to Israel; 'I have loved you,' says the Lord. It's followed by a stupid, petulant response. 'In what way have you loved us?' What do these two statements tell us about the state of relations between Israel and God? Notice, God's statement is past tense. Had he stopped loving Israel? Can you ever recall a moment in your relationship with God, honestly asking yourself; 'Does God love me?' When you think of all that God has done for you, that would take a huge amount of blind irrationality or ungrateful arrogance to ask that question of God. But we are irrational beings and can be prone to moments of arrogance.

God reminds Israel they descended from one of two brothers, Esau and Jacob, as covered in Genesis chapter 25 onwards. The story of a pretty dysfunctional family with lots of sibling rivalry. Esau was a bit clueless and rebellious, Jacob was a bit more switched on but very devious though he loved God. Jacob cheated his older twin brother out of his inheritance and Esau married out of his tribe against the wishes of God and his parents. Easu seemed to have no regard for God. Jacob had 12 children and was accredited as being the father of Israel, Easu was accredited as being the father of Edom.

Edom and Israel clashed on a number of times in their histories. Notably, Numbers 20:14-20, the King of Edom refuses to allow Israel to pass through Edom on their journey from Egypt to the promised land. Though it's not documented in any of books that cover the Babylonian invasion of Judah, apparently the Edomites celebrated the invasions, prevented some from escaping and looted their houses after they were carried away. Obadiah 1:14. The book of Obadiah dwels almost exclusively on God's dim view of the people of Edom and how they turned out and rejected him, just as their ancestor Esau did, that despite God giving them honour, Dueteronomy 23:7-8.

Which of these two brothers can you most closely relate to and empathise with?

But to answer your question of, does God hate some people, with another question; does Jesus want you to hate your mum and dad in contravention of the 5th commandment, Luke 14:26? Of course not, the word hate here is a comparative term. God does not hate anyone - 2 Peter 3:9. God loves everyone, yes, everyone, even the people that we hate, rapists, drug dealers, paedophiles, and mass murderers, it's their sin he hates. This is how Jesus puts it:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV

I know deep down inside that it is too late for me to come to God. My inner voice tells me.
It is not too late until physical death takes you. Then it's too late.

I had that dark voice once too. And I had a 38 to my head. Yep I was so disgusted with self, miserable and full of pain and shame, I was gonna check out. But two showed up with me; the devil, chaos and confusion, encouraging me to pull the trigger; and Jesus, calm and gentle, saying "come to me".
Well I lay that 38 on the floor. He saved me! and I was weightless, totally free of sin, and on fire for God.

You have to dig deep, find that determination drive in you and focus on the cross. He will meet you there.

All praise glory and honor be unto God. Amen
