It's called "The Bible Series" and this specific one I bought is about Jesus.

I can't find much information on it and I made the choice to purchase it based on peoples reviews and feedback.

What do you think?

Amazon.ca

I got it from a local online store here in South Africa.

I realize, that many people on the reviews say that it is not scripturally factual, but I understand that I need to see this movie, even if it's only once.

I love The Passion of the Christ as well and many people argue that it's not scripturally factual either.

God bless
Much love

Praise him from whom all blessings flow.

I remember seeing this film a while time back. Jesus is depict as happy, making jokes.
I cant remember scene by scene, but I believe if it got my attention it would be in my collection, wishlist or giftlist.

Its not as crazy as Jesus Superstar, which took Jesus to another. Errors will be seen, critics will come out to play to amuse us with their words. People will be offended, people get saved and some find a deeper relationship with Jesus because of these movies.

Which Jesus?
Hollywood Jesus ( They are human and not perfect, so the movie will not be perfect. )
Or...............The Bible Jesus ( The truth )

I looked over the reviews, there's more yes than " nay"
People did enjoy the movie
46 gave it 5 stars and 14 gave it 4 stars....60 yes
9 gave 3 stars and 3 gave 2 stars...12 maybe or unsure
22 gave it 1 star...why because they had to rate it to be able to post a review and there's no such thing as 0 star.

I started writing this thread at 4:45 Am is now 7:09am. To show respect to your request

I didnt want to go by my own understanding, I went on other sites and checked the profiles of the reviewers, did some research.

Despite the reveiwers and their differences the common factor among most of them was "errors in the film"

I was drawn to quote these two.

The film then explores a supposed romance between Jesus and Mary, sister of Martha, in which he confesses to his father Joseph that he loves her but cannot be with her. That evening, Joseph bemoans the suffering of the Jews, and Jesus is offended by the assertion that he is the expected Messiah who can relieve the present suffering. Jesus then storms out of the room. After Joseph's death, as Jesus is mourning, Jesus says that he has only one father and that is Joseph. Jesus is then prompted by Mary to go on his mission, and he visits John to be baptized. John does not view Jesus as the Messiah but calls him a sinner who needs to repent of his sins. Soon after, Jesus is baptized, then he (Jesus) becomes the Messiah and confronts Satan in a bizarre interpretation of his temptations.
Jesus is first confronted by Satan in the form of woman with a red sash. The woman is then transformed into only the flowing sash. The Devil is then transformed into what is best described as a businessman with a really nice Armani suit. The Devil takes Jesus to a poverty-stricken South American village filled with starving victims, and then Jesus is magically removed from the area. Jesus is then taken to the Temple in Jerusalem, Satan is turned back into the woman with the red sash, and Jesus is shown the entire world from outer space. Jesus and the satanic businessman are soon back in the desert setting where it is decided that Jesus has passed the temptations. The devil will have to bide his time.
.... Jesus' ministry finally begins. He collects his disciples, and Mary tells him the story about their Egypt experiences. In a flashback, Mary recalls the situation in which Jesus and a few friends accidentally kill a bird and Jesus resurrects it. Jesus is depicted as living in Egypt at five to six years of age. Did Herod die in 4 B.C. or didn't he? If Herod was dead, why did the family stay in Egypt? Jesus and the disciples then attend the wedding at Cana, and Jesus apologizes to the Disciple Andrew because the disciple expected Jesus to defeat the Romans. The final insult in this film is the depiction of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus, prior to his address to the crowd, tells his disciples he has nothing to say. Luckily for us all, he comes up with something.

This person loved it.....read carefully.

I saw this movie when it first came out and had to buy it! The emotions that Jesus portrayed are emotions I had felt, it made me feel closer to Christ than I had in a long time. I became eager to read the gospels again and to have the closeness with Christ that was portrayed in the movie. I was very impressed with the humanistic portrayal. Jesus seemed concerned with real people, with real problems and his forgiveness was never judgemental. He was not a walking bible thumper or so pious that one would feel uncomfortable asking for help from him.I loved this movie and the fact that this was not completely scripturally based is fine. When I want scripture, I look in the Bible, not a movie. I watch movies for their entertainment value, not to replace reading the Bible. This movie shows a Jesus we have never seen on film before and it is a good way to help someone who doesn't know Christ, to get to know him better, maybe get interested in scripture and look for some answers in the Bible

The bottom line is people were touched and saved by this film, but we cant let Hollywood make up a Jesus to make themselves sleep better at night. Everything we entertain we have to test, make sure it goes with the bible.

Some disagreed with the Passion of Christ ( Which I did not see, but promoted..long story ) but many lives were saved. Our Society is not perfect so errors will be seen, but it does not take away the message that

Jesus is Alive, death has lost its victory and the Bible can correct all errors.

It is now 7:37 am, I'll wait till its 7:45..lol
might as well make it a full 2hrs.

I hope I was able to help brother.

LOL! You don't need to take long to reply sister, as long as you know that God helped you with your reply, that's all that matters.

You really made me smile today and I appreciate it. Thank you.

Concerning the film, I agree, I will have to watch it with very sharp eyes, especially since the errors they have brought into it could also lead people astray in future.

One thing to remember, we have to look and see whether this film carries the gospel of Christ, faith and belief in Jesus.

I will most probably only get the film mid November, so I'll come back to this thread and give my own review once I've seen it.

Thank yo again rizen1.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
God bless

I had fun, seriously the time went by without notice. lol
My motive was not to take long, but because my memory of the movie was not that good I did research. I was also ministered in the process. God has a great plan for me to day and he just wanted me up at 4 in the morning..

Praise him from whom all blessing flow.

If God's plan was for me to study this for 2hrs so it can put a smile on your face, brother it was worth it.

Hope you have a bless weekend also.

I read some reviews. I do agree with sister rizen1 that nothing will be perfect coming from human works. However, I still believe that any movie made about Jesus and/or the Bible in general should be 100% Scriptural without free liberty to add this or that. If it isn't mentioned in the bible, don't bother putting it on film. I can understand liberty to add somethings, but to a certain and careful extent. For example, we can agree Jesus had a sense of humor.

We can add scenes of Him joking around, but how far should it go? What about scenes purposely clear yet not mentioned in the Word? In this movie, it would be Ciaiphas and Pilate meeting in conspiracy? Un-biblical, un-necessary. How about assuming Mary Magdelene was a prostitute? Maybe I'm wrong, but I do not recall such in the Bible. Some have speculated that the lady mentioned in below Scripture is her, but it is not 100% definite. Possible, but not 100% definite.

John 8:3-12

3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

With GOD, all things are possible. It is still our duty to be respectful and revere GOD and His Word too.

Thank you Chad. I appreciate the comment.

Are there any other movies or series of dvd's you could recommend to me that deals with the total life of Jesus? I'd appreciate a lot, because I want to sit in peace and quiet and see visually what my Savior did for me.

I'm not saying everyone needs to do this, but I am saying that I need it.

I revere God's name and won't allow myself to become a mocker of God, so I will watch the film with open ears and a heart set on God.

Thank you
God bless

Yes the "Jesus Film Project "

I will pm you the link to watch it free...

God bless.

Thank you again for the recommendation sister Rizen1, I will watch the film you recommended sometime this week, as for the film I bought.....

I watched it this evening. Now, firstly, it's a milestone for me, I never watch television and if I do it's in increments of 10 - 15 minutes then I become bored and I think of getting back to my computer, lol.

I watched the entire film, which was a 2 disc set without taking a break.

I "would not" recommend this film if you have not read the gospels and do not know what Jesus actually went through. The sense I got from the film is that it was "rushed". I think it's because they filmed it for television and not so much for release as a movie.

I enjoyed it and I'm glad I watched it. I had all the right emotions and I cried for my Lord Jesus and I said thank you so many times.

I'm glad, glad is the word I'd like to use. Someone said in the Bible or in a song, "the joy of the Lord is my strength" and I really felt it when watching this film.

I think people tend to make the crucifixion so sad and morbid, but I believe after Jesus rose from the dead He had so much joy that it is incomprehensible to me.

We have a Lord, His name is Jesus. Praise Jesus Lord God, Son of the Most High!

I read this scripture the other evening and I'd like to share it with you all. If you ever feel like someone might be misusing God and you think they might not be saved, ask them this simple question, is Jesus Christ Lord?

1 Corinthians 12:3
Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
