I Have Days

Do you have days when you feel absolutely overwhelmed by what is happening in your lives, and/or in your marriages? I know that I have days when I am strong in the Lord, and I have days when I feel weak and vulnerable. I have days when I feel like I can conquer the world, and I have days, too, when I just want to crawl up in a ball under the covers in my bed and stay there forever. I don’t, mind you, but I sometimes feel like it.

And, I have to resist those feelings, because that is what Satan wants me to do. He wants me to run away from it all emotionally and to not fight the good fight of faith. But, I don’t always feel like putting on that armor of God and fighting this battle, although I know Jesus already won this battle for me. But, it is still a fight. We just have to do it in the strength and power of the Lord, because, honestly, if truth be told, most of us probably don’t have that fight in us in our own flesh, and we just wish some of our circumstances would all just go away, like a really bad dream.

As I have mentioned before, sometimes I get weary of it all, and honestly, I welcome the day when Jesus comes back to take me home to be with him forever. But, I know God put me on this earth for a purpose, and he didn’t put me here to run away from my problems, but to face them, to conquer them, and to live victoriously in him despite them or on account of them.

And, so, I can’t live by my feelings, but I have to walk in faith. Feelings don’t have to determine what I do. They just are! I can feel the fear and do what I know is right anyway. And, it is amazing, when I do that, how those feelings of fear will often dissipate. When I stop focusing my attention on my circumstances, and I learn to focus my attention on God and on what is eternal, and on what purpose he has for me on this earth, then I am able to be strengthened in the Lord and I am encouraged, too, to keep moving forward.

I Will Lift My Eyes
An Original Work / December 12, 2012

Based off Psalms 121-125

I will lift my eyes to my Lord Most High.
My help comes from Him, who saved me from sin.
He will not let your foot slip, and He who watches will not sleep.
Our Lord watches over you, and your life He will keep.
I will lift my eyes to my Lord Most High.
My help comes from Him, who saved me from sin.
I give thanks to Him.

I will lift my eyes to my God in heav’n.
I look to the Lord. My sins, He’s forgiv’n.
Because of His great love for us, He made us alive with Christ.
Through the kindness of our Savior, He gave us new life.
I will lift my eyes to my God in heav’n.
I look to the Lord. My sins, He’s forgiv’n;
My home, now in heav’n.

Praise be to the Lord, who is on our side.
Our help found in Him. He gives peace within.
Those who trust will ne’er be shaken. God will supply all we need.
Our Lord has done great things for us. He’s our friend, indeed!
Praise be to the Lord, who is on our side.
Our help found in Him. He gives peace within.
I can count on Him.

I am praying for you especially in those times when you have even inkling of wanting to quit before the final battle is done.

Oh, amadeus, thank you so much! Yes! I need prayer. I do have days when it is really, really hard, but I'm not quitting. But, I admit that I sometimes just want to cry, and I have days when I have no motivation to do anything, but the Lord encourages me in those times when I call on him, and he speaks tenderly to my heart, and he helps me and strengthens me so that I can keep going. In my self, I don't have it. Many days I sit down to write and I have nothing I feel I can give at all, and although it is the Lord who gives me the words always, there are days when I realize more than ever that I cannot do this without him. I will look at a passage of scripture and I just say "Help!" "I don't know where to begin." "I don't have it at all." And, then he just pours it into me and my fingers begin moving and then another devotion is written, but I know, even if no one else knows, that it didn't come from me, because there was nothing there other than a willing heart to hear from God and to be his messenger in giving out whatever message he wanted to give through me. I think all the suffering I go through has helped to keep me in that humble state so that I know without a shadow of a doubt where these messages come from. I know that every song he gave me to write, he poured those words into me. I had no notion at all of what words might go with the tunes he gives me, either. If he did not give me the words, the songs would not exist. So, I give him all the praise and all the glory!

Thank you so much for your sensitivity to my plight and thank you so much for your prayers. You will be like one of those people who held up the arms of Abraham, was it, when his arms grew tired in the battle. So, thank you for holding me up in prayer. God bless you!

I am only hoping to help. Sometimes I also have been in those times and places of weariness and almost despair. Then someone called me on the phone, or posted a message on a forum, or knocked on my door and in each case had exactly what I needed for that time. We serve a God who is always able. We simply need to trust Him. Jesus said:

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matt 5:6

If we are able to stay hungry for His righteousness, will He not always fill us to the brim and even overflowing?

Give God the glory!
