Can someone help me not to brag too much. For example: the other day I was with my friends and I kept talking about how my allergies were so bad that weekend. I don't think that my friends liked that I kept talking about it. So I was hoping that someone could give me some good Bible tips that I could practice. To help me not to brag anymore or not as much. I looked up bragging in my Bible reference but the word bragging wasn't in there.

LOL!!!! Hey bro!! Oh I have the scripture for you!!!! LOL This one sure helped me keep my big mouth more shut!! LOL Matt 12:36-37!! I would write this down, but you have just got to look at this one for yourself as I did! I only wish I could see your face, and my good brother in Christ shared this this with me one day!! He roared with laughter when he saw my face!

The tongue is not easy to tame, only God can do that for you. You are aware, though, and that's half the battle. Here are some scriptures which may help you seek the LORD on this matter:

James 1
26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

Check James chapter 3, too.

If you must speak, make it edifying:

Proverbs 12
17 Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.
18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

two things have helped to humble my tounge..Phil 4:8 whatsoever things are pure or just if there be any honor virtue or praise thank on these things.. and as a man thinks in his heart so is he ..it is from the abundace of the heart that the mouth flows...concentrate on the things of christ in every day walk and His blessings in that day and soon the things of this world will fade away....in his love ..REv

I have always looked at the tongue as a method of praise or tom foolery. Look up verses in Proverbs of what the tongue can do. I base my life on the proverbs examples. They have never failed me. Look up ‘fool’. God Bless.

Psalm 103:3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases

Trying some new product you just bought can take time to experience the full benefits, whether it's for entertainment, health, cleaning, or education which are just some of modern life's natural human activities. With Jesus on the other hand, he is our living invisible spiritual partner. Although Jesus is silent as we Christians do not know the sound of his real voice, his healing supernatural power is real - that's if staying faith-focused onto the things that are Christian, such as bible-reading, or even visiting church to worship and pray to our Lord Jesus as we are united spiritually as one giant family of God.
We Christians in our global community wait patiently for the coming of our victorious Lord Jesus, hopefully very soon in the future, to defeat Satan and to delete sin once Jesus has transform our old Earth-born selves to new glorious minds and bodies of Christ...
as we socialize together as brothers and sisters of Christ in peace and harmony in God's most modern and most massive place of Community: the Kingdom of God on a new oceanless planet Earth where Christ's supernatural joy will be so over-joyous, our hearts will be so very positive and our faces so very always smiling.:*:.

"The tongue no man can tame"....no not one.

It does`nt matter how much scripture you know, or can quote.

If you look at James 3:8 where that quote is from, and keep reading, you`ll see where the writer goes from pointing out the tongue problem straight to the source of the problem -> the heart ->and then from the heart problem -> straight to God.

Is`nt it funny how the writer never mentions the brain...no mind over matter mentioned there at all.

Jas 3:11 A spring cannot pour both fresh and brackish water from the same opening, can it?

Only God can change the spring water...only He can turn the brackish into healthy...

So the only answer to your question has to be...pray God will do this work in your heart. And keep praying. This process is gonna take some time...

Meanwhile...man invented a nice little problem solver called duct tape..it can turn "me me me " into "mnn mnn mnn"

I kept talking about how my allergies were so bad that weekend. I don't think that my friends liked that I kept talking about it.

Ask one or two of those friends to help you by being accountability partners, i.e. letting you know when you're blowing your own horn.

I wonder if bragging is truly the deeper issue here, or it is a symptom of something else? Perhaps pride?
