I sometimes feel alone

It is hard for me to feel God in my life. Perhaps I don't read the Bible often enough, or maybe I make too many sins to truly have him work through me.

I know; I've led a somewhat sinful life. But I believe in Jesus as my savior and I'm trying to make small improvements here and there. I recently tried to start reading the Bible and praying daily, but half the days I end up just forgetting .

Has something like this ever happened to you? What is your advice?

This is a common malady and the answer is always the same; spend time with Jesus.
If you wanted to develop a relationship with someone you would spend time talking to them, spend time doing things together, learn about each others likes, etc.
You have a relationship with God as a son. But you could be a son and never know your Father if you went through life never talking to them.
So my advice, sow to the Spirit.

Choose to do the following:

Spend and hour or two in worship. This can be (and is) the most intimate form of communion between man and God.

Pray. Talk to God, do not just do something repetitious or give Him a list.

Read His Word. Ask the Holy Spirit (our Teacher) to show you what it means and how to apply it in your life.

Learn to include God. God made man to have an intimate relationship with Him. We are not complete without the very thing we were created for, fellowship with God.

As you begin to do these things you spirit will rejoice at His presence and His glory will become a reality in your life. The more you see of Him the more you will want and He will become your joy, your strength, your delight.
Life will become a full and rich experience and it will become your greatest joy to serve Him.
I will be praying for you my friend.
Many blessings in His Name,
your brother Larry.

'It is hard for me to feel God in my life'...yes I daresay that happens to everyone now and then..

Let me put this as simply as I know how ...feelings arnt very trustworthy.

I see in your note a real focus on 'time'....has anyone ever told you that our Father does`nt own a clock...and He does`nt expect you to live by one? In regards to his relationship to His children, this is the truth. I learned more about love and trust and relationship with Father when I put down that dratted clock, then I ever did trying to keep time with it...pardon my expression of exasperation! :embarasse

Instead of fretting about 'feeling' God...may I suggest you just start
seeing Him...oh how oft we miss seeing Him, because we dont think to give Him credit or acknowledgment for every good and wonderful thing in our lives.....learn to whisper His name in awe and appreciation for His blessings.....that soft pillow you sleep on....those shoes that pad your feed ....the water you drink....that kind voice of a public servant....or that kind gesture of a stranger....men forget to give God glory..and then wonder why they`ve missed His glory...

Bless you with more of God than you`ve ever known sport!

You have been here before seeking the same answers.
Maybe the problem is that you know of Jesus but you don't know Him!

There needs to be a point in your spiritual life that you want to seek Jesus, that reading His word goes with out question. There is no way to feel His presence daily without being in His word or at least thinking about it.

You need to seek Him as the first love in your life. Do you yearn and long for His presence or do you just fret about His absence?

Do you know Him enough to say that you truly love Him?

You say that you believe in Him, is this just a thought or have you actually told Him that?

Have you actually done something like what is says in Romans 10:8-13.

Do you feel "Born-Again" or even know what that means?

If someone where to ask you to witness, could you tell them the very time that Jesus Christ entered you being, the day that you changed from thinking soley about yourself and, all of a sudden, started thinking more about Him?

These are some questions that you must answer first before asking why you don't feel His presence!

Act 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it...
Act 17:25 ... he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
Act 17:26 ...having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,
Act 17:27 that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,
Act 17:28 for "'In him we live and move and have our being'; as even some of your own poets have said, "'For we are indeed his offspring.'

YOU ARE NOT ALONE . god loves you and does not give up on you

"Draw near to God and he will draw near to you." James 4:8 (the first part)

God says...I will never leave nor forsake you. God sees the intent of you heart...

I think sometimes all of us have to just put some quiet worship songs on and "BE" in the presence of God and not speak...just "BE"...

Close your eyes...and let the words wash over you...worship him for who he is...not just for what he has done.

He'll whisper your name if you listen...
