I want Jesus to make me free. I am too angry all the time. I hold grudges way too long. More than one day is too long, the bible says. It always needs to be settled before nightfall, He says, or I will give the devil a foothold, and boy, have I done that over and over in my life. Forgive me, Lord Jesus, and teach me to be gentle and kind and thoughtful and to speak firmly only when I need to. In Jesus name, Amen and Amen

Greetings brother. I understand what you feel, usually all people do anyway. Anger is common but needs important care to be dealt with. Read the below Scripture and let it speak to your heart and it will help you cease from anger. Pray that GOD will heal your angers and grudges.

Psalm 37:8
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

Slow to anger

Proverbs 14:29
29 A patient man has great understanding,
but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

Proverbs 15:18
18 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension,
but a patient man calms a quarrel.

Proverbs 19:11
11 A man's wisdom gives him patience;
it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Ecclesiastes 7:9
9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.

Amen Chad. God bless you dreamer.
David Winters has written a very good message on "The Christian And Anger" as well as additional articles on emotions such as guilt, forgiveness, worry and anxiety, and a must read message "Exposing the Myth that Christians Should Not Have Emotional Problems"
I`m going to leave the link to this webpage, as some may find these articles very helpful.

Hi Dreamer, as you have said that you hold grudges too long. I believe the reason is that we as human try to get even with people who hurt us or damage us emotionally or physically. When they do somethings wrong we want to get back at them. This cause grudges. I sometime do the same things. However, thank God because he have changes me in a miraculous way. Knowing I'm a sinner and shouldn't judge people and through God's word I'm no longer holding grudges. Plz refer Roman Chapter 12, verses 17-21. This help my get through Grudges. I still sometime have anger and still praying to eliminate that aspect of my life. God Blesses.

Dreamer thanks for being couragous enough to openly confess. Thats exactly what the Lord told us to do through James so we can be healed.
James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

What helps me overcome this temptation is keeping the realization of what Jesus did for me at Calvary in the light of my wretchedness. His forgiveness toward me melts my heart and I am able then to easily forgive others. I beleive this is the only true way to have real forgiveness in our hearts. Jesus sets the teaching of this principle up in Luke 12:37
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
You see the goodness of our Lord here toward us? The King of kings will gird himself and serve us when this life is done. I am sure the disciples remembered this statement of His when He gave them the parable to increase their faith to forgive in Luke 17
1Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

3Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

4And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

5And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. (what a thought to forgive someone who keeps sinning against us over and over in one day, and all they do is say forgive me and I am to forgive)

6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

7But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? (remember what He said in Luke 12:37)

9Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
You see the goodness of the Lord in the light of sinful men?
When the Lord first taught me this I asked "Why are we unprofitable servants Lord"? The Holy Spirit took me to Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
When I realize that it is God in me who has helped me see what is right, and it is His power that helps me perform it, I can look at others with compassion rather than self rightousness. Now I am awed and humbled, thus it makes forgiving others easy.

yes, i agree with brockenman...you are very brave and right to share what you have...

i always hold on to the fact that we are allowed to be angrey, that is not a sin, just an emotion, but not to sin whilst we are angrey.

God is faithful and even though you may not see any results or signs of his help in your life, he is at work, and as long as you listen carefully to all he tells you to do, and keep handing your care over to him (philipians 4 v 6-7), you just relax in the knowledge that you are doing all you can and God is doing the rest.

Jesu bless you
