Idenifying The False Prophet

Here are a few characteristics of the false prophet and or false teacher:

Speaking in the third person as if the Lord is speaking through them

Exclaiming "thus sayeth the Lord"

Attracting attention to themselves by claiming that they have exclusive "hidden" knowledge

Offering a "new thing" ..... a truth revealed to them, but not contained within the scope of the visions of the Bible prophets

Directly claiming or inferring that they are a prophet sent by the Lord

Making extra-biblical predictions that are not already revealed in scripture

Making predictions and setting dates for fulfillment

Reinventing their false predictions when failure is evident

Claim that a prophet of the Lord's can be partially correct and not always 100% accurate when covering the obvious errors of their false predictions

Claim that they have visions from the Lord that serve them to utter truth

Manipulating selective scriptures for the purpose of supporting their views

Claim that they have powers to perform extraordinary and supernatural events like physical healing

Claim that they are a conduit through which the Lord performs miracles by the "laying on" of their hands

Claim that they are accompanied by angels who speak to them and reveal proprietary knowledge

Inducement of pseudo-sensual experiences into the membership during their worship services which are claimed to be manifestations of the "holy" spirit


Many of these who come in the name of the Lord will also be found teaching the following deceptive doctrines and related practices:

One's salvation comes by the works of keeping selective rules and regulations put forth by the false teacher

The Lord is finished with Israel and is not and no longer intends to deal with the nation as a separate and set apart entity from all other nations

The "church" is now the "Israel of God" by replacement theology

Today's church will enter and experience the Lord's coming wrath against an unbelieving world

The "church" must bring in the kingdom of God on the earth before Jesus Christ will return .... "kingdom now" theology


I will be posting more on this subject soon for the purpose of sharing observed and known information regarding false prophets, false teachers, and their followings .... historical and present day movements

Seems you deny the working of the spiritual gifts of HolySpirit within believers today.

Do you deny the scriptures that support the spiritual gifts working in and through believers too?

One could read your little list and find that you have condemned yourself also.

Wouldn't this make everyone of us false prophets and teachers or at least the product of such, including you and me?

there is always truth in such a statement

there is with out doubt in what stephen has posted, has to be, it is quiet comprehensive and covers alot of ground.
we all know in any church denomination, there are things that leave alot to be desired, and we are tolled to watch out for wolves in sheeps clothing. false teachers. shepherds, looking to further their own gain and postion, and so the list could go on,
i think it right and would agree one hundred percent, do not be affraid to question things, challenge if nessary, seek and test the spirit, again im not telling any one what they already do not know.
I think christians to day stand up and speak out alot more, than in the past, the forums are a good place to, for people to have healthy debate, keeping things alive and fresh.
none of us are there yet.
i believe in the gifts of the spirit. visions, prophecy, dreams.
but we have all seen things that start right, then go of on a tangent, there are always exceptions, some christians, churches are doing a sterling job.
my only concern is the real tragerty, is people can throw the baby out with the bath water, i had a vision recently, and shared it. which should be the norm, we are a supernatural people, and things should naturaly happen.
i had several people say , they to, had had a dream or vision concerning the end times, not just the end times, but had not shared them with any one, for fear of being labled as above, this is a real shame, when people do not step out and use a gift when they feel led to do so, or share some thing they have received been given. because of the fear of ridicual, peoples attitude, and christains can be the worst, when it comes to judging and criticism.
i would rather share a matter and be wrong, than conceal a matter, that could be right .
people to can be put of seeking and culitvating their gifting and calling. johnny

None of them and neither do I follow the religious clubs that deny the power of HolySpirit working today within the body of Christ, like the many different baptists and brethren groups.

I follow Christ as the HolySpirit leads me. I am just as suspicious of those who do religious things carnally. If there are no more prophets called by God today then there are no teachers or pastors called by God either.

what did Jesus tell his followers to do, what did Jesus tell his followers, including us, what they could do, particularly in his name,
none are greater than the master, and yet the master, spoke,
the things i do, and greater things will you do.
but more importantly, to know Jesus, some one said to me once if you want to know Jesus, experence Jesus, do the things Jesus did,
to become in his like ness.
RICHARD WURMBRAND, was in a prison with a man, after a while the man asked, this Jesus you mention, what is he like, Mr Wurmbrand thought for a while, well he is a bit like me, the man replied, well if he is like you, i would like to know him.
and again i once asked what is more important, how well we know Jesus, or how well we know the bible, or to know the bible, or to do what the bible says,
for a long time the bible was in hebrew, greek latin, people could not read or write, was every one lost?
except a few who could read, latin.
in the eastern block, under persecution, many again did not even have a bible, many were detained, in very hard conditions.
But they had Jesus, the FATHER, and the holy Spirit.
we have the bible, thank God, we need alot mre f Jesus and the Holy spirit, not less,
Gifts a gift is something you give to some one, most of the gifts are for others, paul said he prayed in the spirit more than most, also to edify him self. build himself up spiritualy.
yet he would rather speak five words to encourage some one, also the greatest gift was love, charity love in action.
Faith and works, preaching the good news, these signs will follow.
but rather rejoice, your names are written in the lambs book of life.

Jesus even tolled the Pharasees some thing simular, they found one convert and turned him into some thing twice as worst as themselves.
yes there will be false teachers,but another crime is people who think they are right.
Christians who are now stamping anti christ on every thing,

which we can not in our own strength, not by might, nor by strengh but by my spirit says the Lord.
Paul who will deliver me from the wretched man i am , the good i want to do, i do not, less not kidd our selves, he who is with out sin, cast the first stone.
you say one sentence and do not back it up with 243 scriptures, anti christ
as for the holy spirit being present in a meeting, Jesus being in the mist, yes please, if either can even get a slot, between , mans agenda, church agenda, they might get a couple of minuets air time.
is there Joy and emotion when the spirit is allowed to minister, flow, move.
yes, are there tears yes, are people set free yes. people repent yes, people are found by Jesus saved, yes. demons flee right out the door, some even screaming as they leave. yes.
we are living in a living realation ship, with the risen Lord Jesus, is there passion,can we leap and dance, as David did.
can there be such a noise that people come out of their houses and think we are drunk, as in acts, yes, can we sit in silence at the feet of Jesus, in silence and wait for his council, enjoy his presence.
or should we be like an answering machine, just repeating messages,
Jesus is alive and so should we be to.
we have the bible the spirit, Jesus is ith us, the hope of Glory in our hearts, how many people can we help today, how many can we feed cloth visit
encourage pray for, impart a gift to, share Gods love and salvation with,through our Lord Jesus Christ for the Glory of God,

You said a mouthful there Johnny, I agree, but the religious group are blind to all this.

First let's talk scripture and then we can talk experiences.

Post the scriptures and that you believe support your opinion.

No I'm not evading your request I simply suggested that first we refer to scripture and then experiences.

I have had no personal mentor in this area other than teachings from T.Austin Sparks, Tozer, and a couple of others.

Many times HolySpirit has given me words of knowledge concerning people suffering from illness and I have seen them healed by the power of God, women who could not have children and seen God heal them and they had babies 10-12 months later. Cancers, blindness, and many other diseases. Words of wisdom concerning immediate dangers.

The Lord gave me a vision of the 9-11-2002 tragedy, I didn't understand it all until after it started but once it happen I was able to get in touch with a friend who was a general in the armed forces with some of what the Lord had shown me that had not transpired yet and they were able to counter it.

I have witnessed many miracles in my life and the life of others over the years and it has been a blessing but I don't follow after such, I try to follow after HolySpirit's leading.

I wonder why you are avoiding posting scriptures that support your opinion?

Figured as much Stephen1, how about you disprove it with scripture and we will go from there. If you decide not to thats ok because I seriously doubt you can make a scriptural case against such. I have no need top prove anything to you, if you want to doubt the power of god thats up to you.

First of all I don't need to give you any more info of my experiences with the power of HolySpirit, second of all it is becoming evident that you have no scriptural evidence or you would have produced it by now and thirdly this is your second thread concerning your and I do mean your opinion concerning this topic. The first thread was a farce also and since you can't seem to give any scriptural support for your religious opinion were simply done. I'll close the thread until your ready to give some sort of scriptural support. Send me a PM when your ready and I will open the thread back up.:wink:
