First of all sorry if im making this thread in a wrong forum, Mods move it to apt one if u want. So now coming to the topic>
1st Debate-
Zillions make Idols of our Lord Jesus Christ and Praise them. For Lord who is as big and mighty that Heaven is his throne and earth, His footstool, How justified is it to make a tiny idol of Him. And why make it at all?
'Heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet.." Acts 7:49

How justified is it to make a tiny idol of Him. And why make it at all?
Plz express your views. I personally dont believe in denominations, neither do i believe in Idols Praising.

2nd Debate-

Do you believe in Denominations eg; Protestant, Catholic etc,. if Yes then why? if no then why? What is the purpose of dividing and giving name to faith of one and only Lord of ours. Do Comment.

Regards

fallen_angela, perhaps I am sheltered and unobservant, but I haven't seen any christians praising small figures of Christ. However, I did once have a neighbor (who I believe wasn't saved) bring over a terra-cotta angel about 4 inches high to my home. I was going through alot at the time and she was trying to help. She said to "pray to the angel" every night.

I gently told her that I don't pray to angels, neither in spirit or to an image of one. I told her that Jesus Christ is my Savior and I talk directly to Him.

The way I look at it, why make any idol when GOD made Salvation through Jesus? What's our purpose and profit from making stupid lifeless idols? No profit. I also do not like denominations. There is one Jesus, One body of Christ. Denomations are a resultion of various factors I believe including the obvious division, religion, false prophets.

There is One Jesus, One Body. Nothing else to comment on.

I understand there are thousands of images, statues and figurines just peoples depictions of what Jesus may look like, but no one really knows. And so to praise or worship one of these things is to me a form of idolatry and breaking one of the commandments.

I am with Chad, I do not like denominations, to tell you the truth I really don't know what it means when my neighbor constantly tells me she is a Lutheran and waves it like a banner, I know all these denominations have different doctrines, but I just don't get it. If ever asked I just say I am a follower of Jesus Christ, born again and I go to a non-denominational church.

Denominations came into existence by people with different faiths, or interpretation of scripture. Sad as this all seems, God is able to call and save all who are faithfull to him. The lord knows them that are his, and let all who name the name of Christ depart from sin. It is the lord who adds to the church (ie the body of Christ) daily such as should be saved, not men.

When Christ was teaching his deciples he said the spirit will lead you into all truth, so we as christians need to follow the spirit of Christ, and our understanding will be open to more truth. Will it be perfect understanding? no but it will be a saveing understanding, and God will be with us:star: If your in a denomination pray to God for guidance, he will not lead you astray.

The letter kills, but the spirit gives life...

God bless
