If Jesus Came Today

People have asked me if our present generation would gladly accept Jesus if He came at this time, instead of 2,000 years ago. I have to believe that history does repeat itself! In our own day, many who want to follow the Christian traditions still balk and reject a thorough-going spiritual housecleaning within their own lives. When Jesus came, many realized that it would mean probable financial loss for them to step out and follow Christ. Also, many of those men and women who considered the claims of Christ in His day knew that following Him would call for abrupt and drastic changes in their patterns of living.

The proud and selfish aspects of their lives would have been disturbed. Beyond that, there was an almost complete disdain for the inward spiritual life which Jesus taught as a necessity for mankind; that it is the pure in heart who will see God! I am afraid that humanity's choice would still be the same today. People are still more in love with money and pride and pleasure than they are with God and His salvation!

2 Tim.3:1-5 "But Mark this; there will be terrible times in the last days, people will be lovers of themselves,lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, non lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. Having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof, from such turn away"

This is exactly what is happening, the fear of God has departed in our hearts and lives, we have a form of godliness then we think we're in the right stand with God. Its high time we examine our lives and lifestyle using the word of God as our mirror and not what our minds think, and ask ourselves this:
-Does my lifestyle, the way i carry myself glorify God?
-How much time am i spending with God?
-If Jesus was to come now, will i be acceptable?

Let's work out our salvation with fear and trembling, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.

Amen sister in christ, the bible teaches us to examine are selves whether we be in the faith through scripture and not by what some teacher thinks or by what our church that we go to teaches. Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove your own selves, Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, Except you be reprobates? counterfeits disapproved Rejected?.{2 Corinthians 13:5}.

But the anointing which ye have received from him abideth in you, and you have no need that any man teach you. But as the same anointing, GODS SPIRIT} teaches you of all things, and is truth and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, you shall abide in him.{1 john 2:27}.

Chad, I like how you said "a Spititual housecleaning" I have not used that term in while. But that reminded me of verse found in the OT.

Deu 7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.


If Jesus came back today and asked to go through our movies, our music, our garage etc. I wonder how much trash Jesus would throw away?

We hear so much about the type of music people think is non-Christian, 'rock' etc; but do people also see that watching much of what is on the television today is an abomination? Allowing this into our home is also allowing the destroyer into our home. A deep spiritual housecleaning is a good thing to do from time to time. It is Spring, so maybe we all should do a spiritual spring housecleaning?

I do agree with you atonement, we need a deep spiritual housecleansing, that which doesnt please or glorify God in our lives should be cast out in Jesus Name. We ought to present our lives and body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God.

We cannot listen and sing to world music, dirty movies etc then expect God to move mightly in us, no wonder some of our prayer requests take ages to be answered. We cannot expect to reap oranges while we sowed bananas,no!! Whatever you sow, though shall reap. Out of the abudance of the heart the mouth speaketh. We shall know them by their fruits.

Let it be everyones desire and prayer today that God may visit our lives each and every area and eliminate (Deep cleansing) that which is unacceptable in His eyes thus, renew a right spirit within us. Then, we can be confident of His glorious return, Halleluyah!!
