Greetings,

If you can read this, remember that there are over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

If you have your own PC at home, you own something that costs more than an average person earns in an entire year in Somalia or Sierra Leone.

If you woke up this morning healthy ... remember that you are much better off than the million who will not survive this week.

If you are 15 and you live in the UK, you can expect to live to about 77 if you are a boy, or 81 if you are a girl. In the USA you'd expect to live to 75(b) and 80(g), but if you are born in Botswana, you are already half way through your expected time on earth! On average you wouldn't live to see your 31st birthday in Botswana. If you were lucky enough to be born in Andorra though, you will probably live to be 83.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the fear and loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture,
or the pain of starvation ... you are better off than 500 million people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep ...
you are more comfortable than 75% of the people in this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, spare change in a drawer, a pocket or somewhere ...
you are among the top 8% of the world's most wealthy people.

Bless you ....><>

And if you don’t have any of these things you still have god and that’s better than a phone lol.

@Br. Bear great reminder of how blessed we are especially in America, something I really like is the world wide wealth calculator, what it does is, you put your income in, and what country you are in, and it tells you what percentage of the wealthy you are in compared to the rest of the world. If you make 40,000 in America you are in the wealthiest 99% of the world, that means you are wealthier then 99% of the worlds population

Now God put us all where he wants us, so I can not help to think that he would gift the people in the area of the greatest wealth on the planet exist, with the gift of giving, surely we are being tested with all this wealth that is given to us, . We must realize that its all Gods anyways, we are just stewards and we will be held accountable for the way we handle our money.

Jesus had many many parables about the teaching of money and all the traps it has. the best way to not be trapped by the Lure of money is to GIVE IT AWAY.

Yes God does want us to enjoy the things he has given us, but money comes with warnings, I dont see one time in the bible where Jesus says great job building up a worldly empire of wealth, yet when the poor widow gives her last 2 mites away Jesus Praises her over all the other who gave much more money then she did, because her heart was in the right place and the other peoples hearts were not in the right place, seems giving away 2 mites with the right heart is worth more in the kingdom of God then giving away a million mites with the wrong heart

another point in the bible is that Jesus never ever once told a person they needed more money to solve there problems

, yet he told a the rich fellow he needed to give it all away to solve his problem

he praised the widow for giving all she had away,

I work on Native American reservations as a Sanitation Engineer. I grew up on and near/bordered them. I get to see that type of poverty which is hard to bear. But they are better off than a lot of those you describe above. Thank you for the information.

Some good news. I thought that the stat for Botswana life expectancy was very low so I checked it out.

The information here comes from a 2006 website, and at the time life expectancy was a little over 30 years - due in large part to the AIDS epidemic I guess.

In 2016 life expectancy had risen to 66 years. That's an amazing turnaround in 10 years!

So true Dave M, Christ condemned riches and those that possess them on many occasions, and its easy to see why, for with so much poverty and suffering in Gods world how can we claim to Love God and our Neighbour if we possess Wealth and Comfort whilst they endure Poverty and suffering, and the God we follow identifies so much with those suffering and in need that he says when we help them we are in fact helping him, but when we turn away from them we turn away from him and will be judged accordingly,...... the only point i would take issue with is your statement of "how Blessed we are in America" to possess great wealth, for it seems to me that the possession of Wealth in this World has little to do with being Blessed, but everything to do with, exploitation, oppression, destruction and Violence, if you chart the history of any Rich Nation you will see in its wake a litany of death and suffering that makes our Riches literally "Blood Money".

There is no doubt many rich people are obsessed with money, they are always looking to make more, they always want more.

But there may be Christians who are wealthy and give more than most of us, I do not mean charity events and silly things done to raise money as so often happens, I am talking of people who give without making it public, give and expect nothing in return.

Let us imagine for a moment, a wealthy man, has a worth of $10,000,000, he gives $100,000 to help the poor.

Another person is worth $100 and gives $2 to help the poor.

Who gives the most?

The answer is here in Mark 12:41-4 and Luke 21:1-4

Money is not a sign that a person is Godly, neither is money a sign that a person is not Godly. It all depends on who you "love" God, or "money"?

Totally agree brother

Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)
24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Let me try again, ..... Hi brother Paul, yes i think Christ was making the point its not how much we give, its how much we have left after we've given that shows the value of our gift, and of course motivation is also of vital importance, as in all things Love and Compassion should be the reasons we act, for without Love we are truly lost souls,.......

It is what comes from the heart.

The widow in the example gave 20% the rich guy gave 10%

I have heard this often, so what about Christs words in Matthew 6 vs 19-24, "
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
....... it seems to me that Christ is saying if you have riches, then your heart will be with them and not God, the mere possession of wealth cuts you off from loving god, this is also illustrated in the Parable of the Sower in Mark 4 vs 18-19 "18 And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, 19 but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.",...... Wealth and Riches are the "deceivers", i have often heard Christians say "this wealth is not mine, its Gods, i am just holding it in trust", and then proceed to live very comfortable lives on "Gods Riches", ....... for me Christs words are clear, its not just the love of Riches, its the mere possession thats condemned, and that condemnation is very well illustrated in the Parable of Lazarus and the Rich man in Luke 18 vs 19-31.

We all need money, to little is hard for many, but they may still have holidays, and other items we can say ate ready luxuries.

We can also have to much and end up in debt as we are unable to handle it. Or we can have to much and want more, money makes money they say. it then becomes there God.

Jesus says when we pray say, Our Father....

give us 'this day's our ,daily, bread. enough for 24 hours.

What is our daily bread, just enough, food, drink, clothing, roof over our heads, heating, just enough for 24 hours, then pray again tomorrow .

He wants us to have enough, never to little, but also not to much.

Sorry not enough time to go further, today has not been a good day, tomorrow I am going fishing with the Lord, relaxation for my body, mind and spirit. My body needs it to help release tensions internally.

Probably Friday before I get back here, sorry.

Bless you brother

We might want to study the richest man who ever lived, and learn how he received his wealth.

2Ch 1:7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
2Ch 1:8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
2Ch 1:9 Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
2Ch 1:10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

Solomon asked God for Wisdom in which he could lead God's own people. Listen to what God told Solomon.....

2Ch 1:11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
2Ch 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

God made Solomon the wealthiest man to ever live, and then some!

Solomon did not ask for wealth, just Wisdom to lead God's people. Wisdom is a power that can bring wealth!

Deu 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Now in Proverbs it says.......

Pro 30:7 O God, I beg two favors from You; let me have them before I die.
Pro 30:8 First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
Pro 30:9 For if I grow rich, I may deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name. (NLT)

If any man loves money more than God, and if that is his goal in life to get as much money as he can, it will eventually bring him destruction.

1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Solomon did not ask for wealth, just Wisdom to lead God's people. Wisdom is a power that can bring wealth!

Solomon is a great example in the bible, he is the wisest person who ever lived and he could not handle his wealth he fell away from God.

Said having everything his heart desired he was still empty with out God.
