IN ALL THINGS GIVE THANKS TO CHRIST THIS CHRISTMAS
Well, December is here and Christmas is just around the corner. Wait a second; is that leftover Thanksgiving turkey I still see in your fridge? In the weeks ahead I pray we don't miss it. Amidst the holiday season, and the busyness of life, we can pass over the "Bridge of Life" and not even notice. The bridge I am referring to is the one between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You see, if our eyes are on Him, we can fully connect the attitude of thanksgiving with the Christmas gift. That bridge is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just for a moment, tie these two holidays together with the cord of God's love through the gift of His son Jesus, and you can get a glimpse of the Father's heart. Everything we are thankful for comes from our spiritual Dad. He has supplied all our needs, beginning with eternal life in Christ, and will continue to provide for His children.
The gift of baby Jesus was completed by the crucified Christ, and topped of with the deposit of the Holy Spirit. God's very divine nature now resides in us. What a gift! How much more will He now do for those of us who call him Dad? May we all have the faith to ask Him for much more than we can imagine. In fact, as we approach the season where gifts are shared with those we love, dare we ask, "What would Jesus do?" Just what would He do in my place? What would He buy, where would He go, who would He visit, and how would He act? These are all hard questions we tend to shy away from in the time of year when we are bombarded with ads to focus on self. The world will tell you to "Get all you can and can all you get" this holiday season. But for the redeemed, this is truly the season of giving from the heart's overflow of thanksgiving. Go ahead and make the choice now to let "Streams of Living Water" flow from your inner man out into the dry parched lives of those around you. Give back to God the same gift He gave you. This Christmas give Him your very life. God be with you all...
