In this day and age, countless numbers of people in the world have lost the awe of God, i.e. the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. It has been my observation that numerous people in our day have become too casual about God, including many among those who profess the name of Jesus, and that is why so many are living and walking in the flesh instead of in the Spirit. We need to return to a people who have a reverential regard for the Lord, in submission to his authority and to his will for our lives, following his ways, keeping his words, believing in his sovereignty, knowing who he is, and honoring him as the holy God that he is. “All who follow His precepts have good understanding.”

In Keeping Them / An Original Work / June 3, 2014
Based off Ps. 111:10; 19:7-11

Stand in awe of your Lord.
Harken to His teachings.
Follow where He leads you.
Live for Him today.

Through Him you gain wisdom;
Knowledge; understanding.
To my Lord belongs all
Worship and my praise.

Perfect is the Word,
Refreshing souls in His love.
His commands are faithful,
Guiding us each day.

Joy comes to the heart of
Those who love His teachings;
Follow His instructions.
He will light their way.

Abide in the Lord, and
Obey His commandments.
His Word is more precious
Than all of our gold.

By His Word He warns us,
Comforts, and implores us.
When we follow His Word,
There is great reward.

Thanks so so much for this Ma'am ... you couldnt be more true!!>... so sad that the awe,.reverence and fear of this mighty God is so obviously lacking around us....and we all have to be on our toes because this devil we deal with has been around for 6 thousand years and knows only too well how to manipulate and work his way through mans hearts made easier ...by the fact that we do not walk in the spirit and ..consequently fall victim and fall through the cracks and end up walking in the flesh and grow cold in our walk with him...
I liken this to a tightrope walker .... who has to continually KEEP HIS EYES AND STAY FOCUSED TO SURVIVE ... because the moment he looks away...he falls to his death ....or at the moment he looks away from God ...the devil jumps to work without any hesitation.... I m always reminded by the song we sang back whilst still toddlers in Sunday school ..which .still runs sure and true for our walk with Christ in this day ...which goes " read your bible pray every day ...and you 'll grow grow grow" ...where only through daily reading of his word and prayer can be be strengthened and guard our hearts and minds and stay foccused on him ...this along with other mechanisms that God has given us to use ,....such as fasting...fellowship with other saints ...reaching out to the lost etc etc.... Thank you so much for this write up...I am reminded that we must also continue to pray that we ourselves continually have that uttermost reverence, fear honor and deep Love for God ....
God alone be glorified and praised...God bless you all.... keep on keeping on folks ...eternity is at stake and heaven awaits!!!

Sunshine07, Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts. That song you mentioned sounds familiar to me. Do you know the title? It is so true that we must daily be in the Word and in prayer and for the reasons you mentioned. And, yes, we need to live and walk in the fear (awe; respect; honor; reverence) of the Lord daily. And, we need to "encourage one another daily, as long as it is called 'Today,' so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness" (Heb. 3:13). God alone be glorified. Amen!
