This would have to be my favorite, this proves that not everything we believe to be true to ourselves is factual. Inventions are tied to creativity and to make this statement was really declaring all creative ideas have come to an end. It's also arrogant, that he believed no one else in the world, could possibly be working on an invention during that time. Imagine how many great ideas died because others who had the power aligned themselves with the same thinking as Charles. " What is to be known is already known, so keep your ideas to yourself."

Very interesting.
