What is everyone's opinion about Internet friendships compared to real friendships? I have two Internet friends only. And I like them. But I also like having real friends I can talk to face to face. But sometimes, you know how it goes: you have Internet friends who most likely won't judge you. But with real friends you want to have someone to lean on. What's your take guys?

True friendship is an honor, a privileged and a duty to one another and can not be created out of nothing and the internet is less than that. Those who meet over the internet are associates, since nothing is truly known of the other person except what they wish you to believe.

So, I could be a guy in a wheelchair in a basement talking to you. Lol. I'm not though. I'm an open book, which I shouldn't be. It could be a dangerous thing sometimes.

Faith is for the strong. It is a leap into the midst of that which is beyond our sight. I could easily say that belief was the firs

Faith is for the strong, as it is literally a leep into that which we can't see.

You can be an aquaintence with online ppl, and like them, and like how they seem to like you. But face to face is the best way to have true friends, there is so much deception online. There are several online ppl that I like despite them lying alot about themselves. They fear online truth about themselves and what they are a part of. Although I like them, I know I cannot trust them for they have proved themselves liars. At least they are kind liars. But friends.... no a friend doesnt lie to you.

@Brad Huber: you've hit the nail on the head. I had an Internet friend once who said she couldn't trust people. I should have been kind to that, but of course I ended the friendship.

I end friendships online because I feel people aren't replying to me, or, this case, the woman couldn't trust people. I don't understand why I do this? Could someone shed some light on this?

People at forums like this dont really want to talk a lot like how you do with a friend right in front of you or on the phone. They are here mostly to either teach or learn and sometimes both. Most of us here have friends and family in real life that we value enough to spend time with them instead of sitting in front of a computer. The people in real life are truly more important to you and you to them, then to toss that away to spend time online with people you dont really know. I am here to help those in need of advise or prayers mostly, but I work a full time job, and need to spend time with my family and friends as well, so I limit my time online

Maybe I should do that. Maybe spend more time with family and friends, and less time online. I don't know. I think the reason I spend lots of time online, is cause I feel more secure than talking with my family and friends in real life. I know that sounds weird. But, it's true.

What is a friendship ?
In your discription does it say HAS got to be in my space ?
I say this because every one deserves to have some one they can call a friend and share things and just count on to listen and laugh and cry with. For some people the internet may be the only way they can achieve this. It is not like you are giving them your bank account number and so forth. Be the Love of God and be a friend to whom ever the Lord brings your way.

If God blesses you with friends in real time and via the internet then you are much more rich in friends and more able to be a blessing to others. Seek God and Trust Him and Be ther Light Of Christ with the Love of God.
Blessings
Jim
