I need your guys' help with some issues I've been going through. I'm currently in a relationship with a darker skinned man, and my brother is really not okay with it. He keeps telling me, because we're both Christians, that it's Biblically incorrect for a white woman to mix races. Now, I realize God said not to mix races to the isrealites, but was this not for them alone? Or was He speaking about Gentiles as well? Does it bother God that I'm in a relationship with a man with darker skin than me, especially if it doesn't bother me at all? My brother tries to use this to insult me, and I just wanted to make sure. Thanks in advance brothers and sisters!

Was this man with darker skin also created in his image ?

As a result of Darwinian evolution, many people started thinking in terms of the different people groups around the world representing different “races,” but within the context of evolutionary philosophy. This has resulted in many people today, consciously or unconsciously, having ingrained prejudices against certain other groups of people.9

]However, all human beings in the world today are classified as Homo sapiens sapiens. Scientists today admit that, biologically, there really is only one race of humans. For instance, a scientist at the Advancement of Science Convention in Atlanta stated, “Race is a social construct derived mainly from perceptions conditioned by events of recorded history, and it has no basic biological reality.” This person went on to say, “Curiously enough, the idea comes very close to being of American manufacture.”

Are There Really Different Races?
by Ken Ham

Reporting on research conducted on the concept of race, ABC News stated, “More and more scientists find that the differences that set us apart are cultural, not racial. Some even say that the word race should be abandoned because it’s meaningless.” The article went on to say that “we accept the idea of race because it’s a convenient way of putting people into broad categories, frequently to suppress them—the most hideous example was provided by Hitler’s Germany. And racial prejudice remains common throughout the world.”

In an article in the Journal of Counseling and Development,12 researchers argued that the term “race” is basically so meaningless that it should be discarded.

Acts 17:26
King James Bible
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Malachi 2:10 "Do we not all have one father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously each against his brother so as to profane the covenant of our fathers?

Racism is alive today in church, and its sad to see people using the bible to spread hate. I debated one sad woman who claim race was God's solution to sin, apparently she didn't read the new testament..because the blood of Jesus is the only solution for sin.

Lets just say I started my own church, and my own doctrine based on this verse.

Numbers 12: 10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

So I go looking for more verses to push my new Doctrine.

2 Kings 5:27
King James Version
27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

Exodus 4:6-7
6And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.

7And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.

Then I go to my congregation and say ..." All white people have leprosy " do not mix with them.

Leviticus 13
29If a man or woman have a plague upon the head or the beard;

30Then the priest shall see the plague: and, behold, if it be in sight deeper than the skin; and there be in it a yellow thin hair; then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a dry scall, even a leprosy upon the head or beard.

"Blonde people are cursed " is the banner across the church.

All it takes is an ignorant mind to twist the bible and preach a hateful message.

. People are buying into this lie so we need to pray for love to win.

Malachi 2:10 "Do we not all have one father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously each against his brother so as to profane the covenant of our fathers?

I'll be praying for your brother..

The Bible and “Race”

The Bible does not even use the word race in reference to people,14 but it does describe all human beings as being of “one blood” (Acts 17:26). This of course emphasizes that we are all related, as all humans are descendants of the first man, Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45),15 who was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26–27).16 The Last Adam, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:45) also became a descendant of Adam. Any descendant of Adam can be saved because our mutual relative by blood (Jesus Christ) died and rose again. This is why the gospel can (and should) be preached to all tribes and nations.

The only rule concerning dating.

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

Peace be with you my sister.

I believe 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 sums it all up. Its about being yoked with another believer (Christian). Nothing else matters, actually as long as you're both opposite sex of course :x

GOD bless

amen, sister... the enemy is just probably trying to ruini your relationship with the guy... (because he knows ul be stronger in knowing Christ with a behalf) i will pray for your brother... God will work and eventually get things ok...
and remember, he is a Christian. we are all redeemed at the same prize, regardless of our skin color.

A Brother's Love....

My Sister,
Although I know that I can't think for another person, after looking at your profile, I couldn't help but wonder if your brother's real concern is whether or not your are mature enough in Christ to be in an exclusive relationship. If he is the one that led you to Christ, then he may be just "grasping at straws" to find anything that will prompt you to step back and look at the relationship carefully. (I, completely, recommend Chad's post on Biblical dating if you haven't read it.)
Brothers are amazing people. Where the eyes of a father may be limited, in some cases, brothers are more apt to pick up on what has gotten past "parental radar."
As far as the issue of interracial dating is concerned, I am in agreement with Chad. Non-believer with believer is not biblical.
But, I would like to caution you, my sister on making sure that the relationship that you not have is "God-honoring" and not "flesh-flaming." You are still young in Christ, so distractions can be deadly.
Stay in the Word. Stay in Prayer. And, Seek God's Will for Both of You!!

That's what I thought, but my brother was giving me such a hard time about it. I don't think it's so much about the relationship as we're both Christian, Richard and I, and we both love God wholeheartedly, it's more of the fact that my brothers racist, he's very hateful towards darker people as sad as it is. It's upsetting that's still relevant in todays world, I thought we got past all that, but I guess some people just don't want to let go. Thank you for your words.

And thanks to everyone else who responded I appreciate it, God bless brothers and sisters. [:

Grace and peace to you, I have an older brother so I know they don't sugar coat anything.
If your age had anything to do he would have made it known.

My brother can be a handful, but I love him so much. I know you love your brother and that makes it hurt even more.

My advice just let your light shine, let peace win every argument. Don't get mad, your brother is a victim of society and the more you and Richard shower him with love, his eyes should open.

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions.

I'll say it again, you and Richard no matter what is said, or done the first reaction must be love.

Proverbs 17:9 He who conceals a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.

Try not to live in the past, every day is a new day , forgive and forget because God is working in his heart.

1 Peter 4:8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins

Dear ServantOfYHWH,

Can I address your question from a different angle?

Before I do, may I recommend to you and your brother a song by DCTalk, called 'Colored People', from their 'Jesus Freak' album? Beautiful song, and I would have to say that if your brother still had his heart against any skin colour after hearing it, he would fare well with some prayers.

Now, about the relationship.

Let's put skin colour aside, as it is well covered here. I think something more serious to consider, for you, my sister, is the extent and content of your relationship with these two men.

One is always going to be your brother. Always. You must not forget this.

The other... as you know, is a man who you have entered some form of relationship with. Can you tell anyone exactly how long this relationship will last?

My point is this..... your brother is precious to you and you must be very prayerful that you make the decisions in life that concern your brother, that you do not endanger the bond you have with him, and that the new man in your life is really worth it.

A person is a person, no matter who they may be. Of course, a Christian is a Christian, and one would expect that being a Christian would be enough grounds to enter a relationship with them and it would last a lifetime in peace and love. But often, this is not the case.

So, if you could for a minute, think that if your brother protested for some other reason about you being with this man... would this man be worth it?

Remember, people can be hasty and make a mistake in relationships... and after a time, break up ... and still they must remain members of their own family.

I know that it is a big ask to say how long you will be with this man, because there is no way of knowing , short of deciding to end it now. I am not endorsing that. I am merely trying to explain that because you don't know how long this relationship will last, you need to consider that.... and how precious your brother is.

Of course, it's a two way thing.. .. your brother must realise that no matter what, you are still his own belovd and precious sister. He must likewise love you unconditionally.

BUT, that is no reason to make decisions on... it would be selfish.

If nothing else, you should be clear in your own understanding about skin colour differences from the answers you have been given here in this thread. From there you still need to decide who is most at risk if you persue this current relationship.

Love is a giving thing, and we can't expect the other to be the giver, only. Sometimes saying no is very hard to do, but it is a true sign of love.

You must also consider how your male friend will feel if this anti-him vibe continues for years. Is it a good and loving thing to put him through to satisfy your own feelings.

Remember that relationships take a lot of work from all involved, and it really is best to have full support and blessings from your family.

Look beyond the colour issue to the issue of love.

Bless you ....><>

God never instructed the Israelites to not mix races wihen both man and woman are believers. In the Old Testament, He instructed the Israelites to not marry women from pagan cultures who remained in those culures (see Ex 34:11-16, Dt 7:1-3).

Women from pagan cultures who became God worshippers were allowed to marry Jews in the Old Testament, i.e. Rahab the pagan harlot of Jericho (Jos 2) and Ruth the Moabitess (Ruth).

Galatians 3:28-29 (Amplified Bible)

28There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.

response to racism

Answer to racism:
“And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, tha tGod is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.”
(Matthew.3:9)

I trust you will be in all our prayers

I was going to look for more responses in the Gospels, The Laws of God in the New Covenant. When I opened my bible it opened to the 1st letter to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 12:12>26, One Body, Many Parts. Now look at verse 13 For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or gentiles, whether we are bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Please check out the whole entry. Unfortunately most of the Gospel material would apply to you and Richard about forgiveness and praying for those close to you 2 to forgive their transgressions. Then John tells us in his Gospel that the Holy Spirit in us will flow like living water to those you 2 love as your love for each other grows. But remember that there is still a large responsbility on you 2 to continue to grow and love in Christ.

with love in Christ ... agape

So, if the fella was "whiter" with three arms, fourteen toes and a horn coming out of his head, then your Brothers would be ok with it?

Skin colour is irreverent. I feel that The Enemy is using your brothers. I think that God is happy when you found the guy you were meant to be with. I'll pray for your brothers.

Just a thought popped in!

For your brothers, what is more important to them, the colour of your BF's skin or your happiness? I feel that their interpretation of the Bible is wrong.

Speaking about the separation of the 12 tribes is just an example of how God does keep certain groups separated. No ones saying that's a race thing. I have a feeling that you already knew the responces you would get from this forum by the way you asked a question. Clearly this "darker skinned man" is an African/American. Instead of trying to get confirmation to sleep with someone outside of your race, why don't you consider where it says in the bible about causing your brother to fall?

Ive dealt with this same argument when it comes to ********** relationships.

If you truly feel the need to join together with another race thus ending your family line then do so, but pray about it instead of asking on a online forum. God bless!

I know this is an old thread but I would like to comment : Moses married an Ethiopian woman and God punished Miriam and Aaron for complaining (Num 12:1). That was the old covenant and we are now in the now which means even more freedom.
It is like I told someone a couple of weeks ago- it does not matter what color the can of Coke is just what kind of drink is inside.

There is hidden truth in your question and hidden truth in some answers so I will try to do my best.

Your brother is against the black race. I know this as I see in it some of myself. I have worked on that all my life, but every time I turn around another serious horrible crime is committed by another black man , and we now have full time police offices in some of the schools that are predominantly black. Some in the white schools too, they are not perfect. But there is the great inborn fear and mistrust. It becomes an life instinct. Very Very hard to overcome. So you know as you ask these things that this is the issue. Your brother and likely your entire family will not approve of this union. If divorce or other situations arise when there are now children the ordinary obstacles grow greatly.

It took me a great many years to get my mind wrapped around how God wanted me to view this whole situation. It is all cool now, but it will take your brother time, maybe a great deal of time. It did me. Now I will smile and banter and pat a black child on the head as soon as I will one of my own, but it was not always so. I still have to fight it some. I fear them, and like the cunning snake I try to avoid them as much as I can in some areas of heavy crime areas in town. But I do not condemn all for the actions of the ones who do these things, I have finally got that straight. So this is what your brother and family have to accomplish. They have to learn to see the good in an individual and not judge.

As for God, all he asks is for any person, race or creed to believe in him and talk to him and to let him guide you in life. It is just that simple.

Those other things in the old testament were done for different reasons, not race. If you have a village that is totally bad, sinful and flaunting their nose at good and at God, he simply says OK, nuff of this and they are all killed. But there was a reason for it and it was not because of race.

Racial issues are us, man, our own devices. Our own views most of which are wrong 100 percent of the time .

I hope this helps, show you how the world looks at things how your brother feels and what to expect.

As for God he will hold you both if you truely let him. Just be aware that even with Gods blessing, the family situation depending on how they do or do not accept God will be a factor.

My wife is Hindu, or was. From India. We over the years have dealt with many issues in schools, and other areas with mixed race children. So I try to advise that God does not care, but the world will show its head from time to time.

Me? just your ordinary white red neck. Who by Gods guidance can relate to all. But it took awhile, and many lessons.

This Post nails it all.
Thanks rizen1, you really spit truth.

@My Sister, lovingly show your brother that he is influenced by pagan religion of our age. If you can show that, he will surely change. Answers In Genesis have great resources to help such affected person
