Is God All Forgiving?

God hates sin, but He loves the sinner. The price for God's forgiveness is high, but He paid the price Himself. By Christ's loving act of grace, believers are eternally freed from the penalty and guilt of sin. Once we're covered by the Blood of Christ, God doesn't keep a record of our sins. Our forgiveness is total and complete.

"Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, who sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord doesn't count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit" (Psalm 32:1-2).

"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more" (Isaiah 43:25).

"It is possible for the Lord to look at us without seeing our sins because when he forgave us, he removed our sins as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12).
A believer receives God's forgiveness when he repents of sin and places his faith in Jesus Christ for salvation -- all of his sins are forgiven forever. That includes past, present and future, big or small. Jesus died to pay the penalty for all of our sins, and once they are forgiven, they are all forgiven (Colossians 1:14; Acts 10:43). However, when we stumble, we are called to confess our sins - "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Yes, Christians do sin (1 John 1:8) - but the Christian life is not to be identified by a life of sin. Believers are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). We have the Holy Spirit in us producing good fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). A Christian life should be a changed life. A person who claims to be a believer yet continually lives a life that says otherwise should question the genuineness of his faith. Christians are forgiven no matter how many times they sin, but at the same time, Christians should live a progressively more holy life as they grow closer to Christ.

Couldn't say it better myself ^^^

Forgivness...

how come all aren't forgiven? Or does the will to be forgiven play a role here??

1Jn 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
1Jn 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

It's not the will, but what you will receive... God said he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.... If you do not believe that, then you do not receive your forgiveness.

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Mar 4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

being forgiven is not based on feeling better when enough time goes by. It is based on what God said in his word.. and feelings have nothing to do with it... Not believing and receiving What God said, is to not have a part with it.

Jesus Is Lord.

Amen!

That what I say, you have to believe what God says and receive what He offers you.

God has already forgiven us of our sins actually! All the work and all of the sacrifices and prophecies have been paid and fulfilled in full! However, there is an individual responsibility that we must take that allows us to benefit from Gods actions and will. We must have faith in Jesus Christ! We must believe His actions, and His existence. We must put all the faith that is able of us into Him. In this we achieve salvation/eternal life!

However, we are still in grave danger! We can look at these wonderful facts and cheer, but the fight isn't over yet! We have our solutions to every single spiritual problem though. If we sin and become overflowed with guilt, we can run to God and confess so that our guilt is relieved of us! If we have doubts, which so many people do, we can display our faith in so many ways to ignite our faith!

What some (even myself sometimes) consider the negative effects of faith, are just awful acts of our sinful nature! We can always counter these with information from the bible. When we do this, we ensure that we keep our stable and strong faith and enforce our relationship with God. Only faith can earn us eternal life. Actions of faith, make us stronger!

I rant too much, sorry. xD

The simple answer to your question is No,........ God is not all forgiving,..... he does forgive, and he is merciful,....... but, and I think a number of Christians like to gloss over this fact,.. he is also a God of Justice,....... a God that demands we act justly and also a God that will eventually judge us,....... forgiveness and mercy will play a part in this judgement but so will condemnation,...... and according to Jesus few will be saved and many condemned,........ but looking around this world in the name of Justice how could it be any different?.

God is able (and willing!) to forgive all sin, but forgiveness is through the shed blood of Christ. Not everyone receives Jesus as Savior.

God is all forgiving. Otherwise none could be saved from hell, for all have sinned and "come short of the glory of God"

"There is none righteous, no not one"

But we have to respond to His love and to His grace. Judas who sold Jesus, and betrayed Him, could have been saved had he 'repented' and asked for forgiveness.

We could have had the Gospel According to Judas, but he turned away from Jesus. This is the 'unforgivable sin' to turn Him away.

"Don't turn Him away, don't turn Him away,
He has come back to your heart again, although you've gone astray.
O how you'll need Him to plead your cause on that eternal day!
Don't turn the Saviour away from you heart......O dont turn Him away.

"He is not willing that any should perish but that all may come to salvation"

But men have to repent, have to accept the Salvation bought on the cross of Calvary.

God is all forgiving.....but no acceptance of His love = no Salvation.

Amen Stephen... God does forgive all sin. No matter how bad.
Confession and repentance are a part of this also. Accepting his son as your savior is a pretty big dependency as well.

thank you stephen

....... so if you do not repent and accept God's love then you will not be forgiven and condemned to "Hell"........ for you have committed the "unforgivable sin",...... a fate which awaits most of Gods creation according to Christ......... I think we have a different view of what constitutes "all forgiving",......... I would see it as unconditional forgiveness ......... you obviously don't.

bummer, more confused than ever on this now ?????

Does forgiveness have to be unconditional? If anything, I see the opposite in the Bible.

Luke 17:3-4; says if they REPENT then we should forgive them. It doesn't say we should forgive them if they don't.
1 Jn 1:9; says if we confess our sins he will forgive us. The IF in this verse is a condition.
James 5:16; says confess your sins so you can be healed. But what if we don't confess our sins?
There is an unforgivable sin in the Bible. But personally I believe any sin that we don't repent of of is unforgiven. ( Heb 10:26; )

I think the Bible teaches God will forgive anyone who wants mercy and those who really want mercy are those who show mercy.

God is HOLY, and a righteous Judge.
Every single human being who has ever lived is GUILTY.
Therefore every single human being who has ever lived shall be condemned to Hell for eternity.
The only way we get our charges dismissed in God's court is if we had trusted in Christ's atoning work on the cross and repented of our sins.

Otherwise, we have a fine to pay. For we are guilty. And we are unable to pay our fine. The only one able to give something to God was God's only Son, because God's only Son was the only one who could ever come before the throne without charges against Himself (he lived a perfect, sinless life). Therefore, he presented Himself as a sacrifice for all who would believe that he did.
