As a Christian, it has always puzzled me when people find something funny, and they "That was funny as hell!" What makes something 'funny as hell'?? I personally don't find anything funny enough to say that. I think while we are living our lives, sometimes forget that hell is a REAL place. There are millions of souls lost for all eternity separated from our Father God. It breaks my heart in two to think that even members of my own family may someday experience that same eternal separation from God.
There is absolutely NOTHING funny about hell. It is our goal as Christians (at least it should be) to live a life as a follower of Christ that is pleasing to God so that we can reach the ultimate goal: Heaven. We also, while living our lives forget that Heaven is a REAL PLACE too. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Although we can't see, feel, smell or touch Heaven, we have FAITH in knowing that it is REAL.
I believe, and this may just be my opinion, that we Christians need to quit being "entertaining" and become serious soul-winners for Jesus There is nothing wrong with upbeat music, skits, dancing and things like that. And I definitely believe we need to appeal more to teenagers. But, I also believe that some, not all, preachers need to go back to being just that. Preachers. Some of the men and women we see on Christian TV have become more "entertaining" and the message of God's love and the reality of heaven and hell is getting lost in their theatrics.
Thank you for listening to my little "rant". I just had this on my mind for a while and had to let it out. I hope what I have said makes a little bit of sense. If you are ever out with friends, or watching a movie, or hear a funny joke, just remember this: Anything is funnier than hell.
