Hello everybody! I hope ya'll are doing well! In your opinion, is it a sin for one to strive to attain a high level of physical fitness such as a want to become stronger, faster, or even look better? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless

It isn't a sin to be strong or fast or healthy or physically fit.

It is a sin when fitness/exercise becomes our idol. It is also a sin if we become vain about our bodies.

Either way, I don't think this is one of those things that will keep you out of heaven.

1Ti_4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Sin is rebellion to GOD. The Question is always ? Why are we doing the things we do?

It does not say it not good for us. Yet God says ? Serving Him is a greater gain. He can make us just like we want to be. But it all goes back to our reasons why?

See we must do all things as unto HIM. Do we do it to look more tempting to others or do serve Him and others more perfectly?

Jas_1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Jas_2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

If you have doubts? Just Ask Him your self.

Are you really looking for a yes or a no answer to your question?

Anything we do that stands between us and God is something to be avoided. Anything that is more important to us than God at any time is something to be avoided. Are you spending as much time in the Bible and prayer as you are in your pursuit of physical fitness? If the answer is "no", perhaps you should reconsider your priorities.

Exercise is valuable and good for us....

1 Timothy 4:8
For
g bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, h having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19Or t do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, u and you are not your own?20For v you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body 1 and in your spirit, which are God's.

Vanity is not....

1 Samuel 6:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, k "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have 3 refused him. l For 4 the LORD does not see as man sees; for man mlooks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the n heart."

Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

The Holy Ghost does not dwell in our flesh .

Rom_7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:

If you really want to work your flesh body that good. Use it to help others . Mow someone yard. Help people move or just walk down the street and go door too door asking if there anything they need done ? Then do it for free.

Just to work out by your self not helping anyone. Might help you some?

But helping others will help you eternally . and bring prayers for you and rewards in New Jerusalem .

I always liked working. when guys on jobs would say they did not want to do something? I would always ask the boss could i do it. they always though i was nuts .But i liked working. I was always in good shape but never worked out .

this is just my thinking on it.

These days exercise is compulsory not a choice.

In Paul's day everyone walked and the food intake did not have the added sugar, fat and salt.

In the modern era few exercise, most eat the wrong foods.

There is no option but to exercise daily.

If gluttony is a sin, then the western world's God is their stomach.

Exercise is not a sin, in fact we are designed to exercise and not sit on our butts.

exercise is Not so important . But the foods we eat are bad mostly, filled with junk.
Better to help others and that will keep your flesh well and in shape. Once I was 235 ,little fat? But i prayed to the LORD to lose weight. Then within a very short time I was 149 . now I am about 175?

It not us doing things. It Him doing what we need or even want? Pray over your food and pray over your body if you want?

Our lives are too short to waste spending a big part of it worrying over our bodies. They are Not so important.

Lots of good deed works we can do .
Of course a lot depends on the ministry GOD called us too?

Exercise isn't problem as long as you're not enslaved to because you can't have 2 Gods.:shade:
