I was on the PC just browsing when i suddenly craved pork chops. but a few minutes later a thought came to me and i asked myself if it is ok in the eyes of God to eat pork. I believe i read a while back on the web that it is unlawful to eat pork and as a christian we shouldn't eat it. I have eaten pork through out my life alot of hispanics cook pork.

So i wanna ask my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ if it is lawful for a christian to eat pork according to the law of Almighty God.

Mark 7:19
19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

There are no restrictions in the New Testament, but we should be cautious around Jewish or Muslim's that we eat with for they do have restrictions.

Thanks for that RJ, i actually read the book of Mark a few days ago i can't believe this didn't come to mind. Thanks for your reply. God Bless ;)

There was a provision in the Old Testament Law that forbade Jews eating pork. Jews still follow that law. But, that law does not apply to us under the New Testament (see Ac 10: 9-16).

Please read rom 14:14-23 Nothing is unclean, but to him that is, is! A good brother who does not believe in eating meat came over to dinner one night,I knew he did not eat meat, because it would cause him to stumble, even though I myself can eat meat,so I did not serve meat at the table. This is just an example of placing another before ourselfs in Jesus. verse 23 But he who doubts is condemed,if he eats, because his eating is not of faith;and whatever is not from faith is sin. Hope this helps. blessing.

I recently heard a sermon about this, and not just pork, but about other religious practices as well. I had the same questions about this topic, but my pastor explained it perfectly and a light went off in my head.

Jesus was God's perfect lamb, and He is all we need. Giving up things or not eating certain foods aren't necessary because we were given Jesus, and He was the sacrifice. So because His sacrifice is all we need, we don't need to ever sacrifice anything ever again. Anyway, can giving up pork really ever match the sacrifice of Christ? No! Nothing we can ever do can match the sacrifice of Christ, therefore we can continue partaking in everything the Lord blessed us with on this earth. In living by these other rituals, we are saying Jesus wasn't enough for us, and we are showing a lack of faith in Him. But by accepting Christ as your whole and perfect savior, you recognize that there isn't anything or anyone else that can take His place.

Hope this helps

In leveticus it does actually say pork is an unclean meat, being brought up as a seventh day adventist thats what i believe, the clean meats are the animals that chew the cud and have a divided hoof, but anything else is unclean,I dont think it will affect your salvation or your relationship with God ,but I think its a guideline to tell us whats healthy or whats not,Im a veggi myself and its barbaric to see how some of these poor animals who are Gods creatures get treated, its enough to horrify anyone.

We don't live under Leveticus anymore.

Heaven and earth will pass away but the word of God will always remain, yes manmade rules are done away with but not Gods ,it was God not man that instructed clean or meats not to be eaten.also in the new testament it mentions our bodies is the temple of the holy spirit and to treat healthy ,eat healthy things, pork is one of the most unhealthy things you can eat, also God want us to be kind to animals not abuser them, pigs have been proven to have intelligence more than most animals, also Gods wishes,to look after the earth, also pigs consume alot of fed that could be used in feeding the poor ,but the more people eat pork ,the more pigs breed, the more foodd will be consumed by pigs that could of fed the poor, again God wants us to think of the poor.

All plausible thoughts, but it remains, we are no longer under the Law but under Grace. How do you account for Mark 7:19 ?

of course we are under grace but that doesnt give us a free ticket to do whatever we like either, its like saying we dont need to keep the commandments but we do,God knows we all fall short and his grace and forgivness is suffice more than suffice but we still cant go round abusing our bodies or that of others or living creatures. And why pick and choose which laws are right or wrong,if you say its ok not to keep the sabbath or its ok to eat pork yet its wrong to steal or commit adultery its like you are picking and choosing which rule to keep or which not to,God gaves us guidlines and we must live by all of them not just a few,Im not saying that its a salvational issue not to eat or to eat pork but i do think its a guideline that Gods showing us to a better way f living and a more healtheir lifestyle, did you know pork contains the most fat,did you know that pork contains worms that when consumed can enter into your digestive system? Its a very unhealthy meat.

Wow! Where did all that come from, especially the too often statement: " you can do anything you want to".... I never said that! Again, you did not address Mark 7:19, all I can think of is that you are on the attack, insinuating things I don't do for some reason.

Please just answer Mark 7:19.

Also, here are some words from Paul about the Law what do you think he meant?

Galatians 3:13

13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”[a]

Galatians 1:9

9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

Galatians 3:10

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[a]

I know what your saying but if he relised us by one set of rules he relised them from all,you cant pick or choose what should or shouldnt be kept.

also he said only those who obey as i say will inherit Gods kingdom, again imnot saying the pork issue is salvational, but we still need to obey God also.I do believe that Jesus shed his blood for us and we under grace but i also think God has given us advice on how to live.
