Is it ok for Christians to say "NO"?? I've been in ministry for over a decade. If I could have just convinced some folks BEFORE some decisions they made that it is more than ok to say "NO"

-it would have saved them all A LOT of trouble.

I could fill up this page with stories and times the word NO has saved me from untold trouble.

Any stories you have about how the word NO has "saved" you?

If I get any decent stories/feedback, I would like to use them for further articles [names would be with held :) ] to further the thought and drive home the point, on this article:

"NO is a Bible word"-

"No" is a Biblical word on a two-way street. Not only are we to say "no" to the things of the world, sometimes God says "no" to the believer.

When David wanted to build the temple for God, God said no, your son will build it.

When Paul prayed for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, God said no, my grace is sufficient.

When Paul wanted to go into Asia on his first missionary journey, God said no, and sent the vision of the Macedonian man saying, "come help us." etc., etc.

"NO' is definitely a well known word in the Scripture.

My wife and I were going to a Church near our home in Apple Valley Ca. The pastor there had a PHD in theology, It was a small family-run congregation with about 30 people. The pastor had five daughters and three of them were in the worship band. The band leader met a man there at Church who had been saved for a couple of years. This man married the worship leader's daughter. They decided (the pastor and the board members) to "ordain' him as a minister for their Church. My wife and I said 'no" this was not a good idea as this man was way too young in the Lord to be put into this position. They did it anyway not taking our suggestion as we were not on the board of directors, but we were born-again Christians for more than 40 years. The Church decided to send this new ordained minister to the Middle East to do some evangelizing. His wife had just given birth to a new baby daughter, and before he left his wife became pregnant again, but this time with twins. While he was away to evangelize he began drinking and partying while he was there and not doing what he was sent there to do. When he came back to the States he continued to drink and stay out late. They both divorced with three very young daughters. I was very upset not for him or his wife but for their three young kids. My wife and I left that Church, because of thier inability to identify those in their congregation who are anointed to preach /teach and use some who are not. Having a PHD in theology means nothing if you do not have the Wisdom that comes down from above to run a Church.

1Ti 3:6 A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall. (NLT)

PS; my oldest son married one of the pastor's younger daughters, so we are still in contact with this pastor. They want us to come back to their Church but we said "no" as nothing has changed since the last time we were there several years ago.

The biggest thing that stands out to me is when you said " You can have a Phd in theology but.
" and went on from there.

Over the years I have seen way to many people rely on their Christian credentials....instead of the prayer closet.

I think required reading at every theological school in the world should be a sermon titled

NO IS A BIBLE WORD. USE THE WORD NO !!

Thanks for the comment. It fuels the fire for subsequent articles..
