Is it too sweet ?

I spent some of my upbringing in Austria, a country that has the ability to make wonderful cakes and pastries. Eventually I moved to a land whose sole criteria for judging cakes and softdrinks was it level of sugar, completely disregarding taste or any other nutritional benefit.
I am often reminded of this experience when I read the testimonial of some Christians, who claim to be saved, born again, or have visions.
Without any doubt love, hope, healing, salvation, emotion or forgiveness ect. is a big part of the Chritian faith, but when do these messages become too sweet to sustain when it is not accompanied with substantiel spirituel food ?
As an example I have seen comments with nothing else but hundreds of throbbing hearts with the word LOVE. There exists whole forums dedicated to loving each other and making others feel good, any attempt to have a "real" conversion (regardless of how polite) will get you banned.
The reality is that as Christians we are in a war.
Mat 10:34 Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.(seec also eph 6:12)

We cannot afford to let our spirirual body become weighed down with emotionalism making it difficult to put on our spiritual armor. It is not that Christians should be devoid of emotions, but it should not be the decision maker in our life, this is the job of our brain, it alone is capable of reasoning from the scriptures.
Rom 12:2 ...be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Emotions are good slaves but bad masters.

Your profile says that you still live there. But yes, European confections have a quality about them that is not found in America. In a similar manner, do not most Europeans actually read their Bible? While in America "Heaven forbid" someone actually study it.

:love::love::love::love::love: (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

In truth, I was banned from this forum for a full year because I stridently chided (scolded might be a better word) two members for actually changing the words of scripture. I was banned for not being "nice."

Over that year, I've learned that compassionate people tend to confuse love with accommodation. Yet how to discuss truths (doctrines) in love without accommodating deviousness, hidden agendas, or outright stupidity? It's a puzzle.

Any real conversation will probably be by PM.

Kindly,
Rhema

Hi, actually I was referring to Australia, my profile by necessity is simplified although not incorrect, I was living in Vienna again at the time of writing it but am now in France.
Yes, truly a puzzle, in some forums impossible to solve, I was once banned for quoting the Bible and pointing out, how it effectively contradicted a ubiquitous Christian belief.
Most do not want to hear the truth when it contradicts their indoctrinated belief and will do anything to censor those that speak against it.
Narrow is the gate, leading to life, and few are the ones finding it.

My, you do get around.... I think most Americans consider Australia to be Americans with funny accents who live on the back porch. We've had a number of Australian members post awhile back.

You have aroused my curiosity. Please send me a PM about that if you wouldn't mind. The only well known "secret" here is that Talk Jesus allows no discussion on the Trinity. That can get ya banned real fast.

Since Martin Luther, though, BELIEF has been intrinsically tied into one's SALVATION. It's not surprising, then, that people (even if unconsciously so) enter into this existential and brutal battle with fellow brothers about their beliefs, because if they might be wrong, then they might not be saved. And if ever realizing they're wrong, how could they trust their own decision making process again? So not only would they not be saved, they might feel like they could never be saved again.

It's a bit ironic, since the heart of the Gospel Proclamation is REPENT (because you're wrong).

God bless,
Rhema
(I bet the sugar content in the US is far worse than Australia.)
