Is this committing adultery?

Friend of mine became born again after getting divorced and then remarried recently. Did her new husband commit adultery by marrying a divorced woman?

The friend said since she had become born again after getting divorced that she was forgiven so was as if she had never gotten married so she is not considered a divorced woman.

Your thoughts on this please?

Hard pill. Let us play it simple, is she a divorce person or not? There is your answer. Does the scripture says anything other. Sounds like Eve been taking to that serpent in the garden to me.

Her new husband is not committing adultery unless he was also divorced when they married. Biblically -- a married person is to only be with their own husband or wife and That relationship is binding until one or the other dies. But there Are those who feel that when a divorce has taken place, the person is no longer married. If that divorced person meets another person of the opposite sex and They want to get married, okay. It's a 'too close' a relationship with someone other than the spouce that is the problem. And That is why couples need to guard their relationship.

And it would depend somewhat on the circumstances of her divorce.

Her new husband would not be the one possibly committing adultery. Since she's been divorced -- has she had counseling regarding the reason for the split-up? That would Definitely be something she should do before entering into another marriage. She Should remain on her own for a while.

Marriage and divorce is something the Lord God was very strict on. It was never intended for a husband and, and wife to ever be separated by divorce. The problem is the Lord God knew that no man could EVER abide by the commandments he had given him because of the “hardness” of his heart (flesh)!

Mat 19:7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?”
Mat 19:8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

The Apostle Paul gives guidelines on these matters.

1Co 7:10 To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband
1Co 7:11 (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife. (ESV)

There will always be divorce in this life because of the weakness, and hardness of men's hearts!

If a brother or sister gets saved, and their counterpart desires to stayed married then they should stay married. If the other party does not want to stay married then the person who is saved is NOT under any condemnation to marry again if they so wish to!

1Co 7:15 (But if the husband or wife who isn’t a believer insists on leaving, let them go. In such cases the believing husband or wife is no longer bound to the other, for God has called you to live in peace.) (NLT)

What if two unbelievers divorce?

The only way a person can get out from under a marriage covenant is by “death”

1Co 7:39 A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. (ESV)

Here only if the husband dies is a wife free to marry another, but there is one more way which we normally don't think about, and that is “if” the wife dies!!!

The law only has dominion over a person as long as they are “alive”!

Rom 7:1 Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?
Rom 7:2 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.
Rom 7:3 Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.

A unsaved person who was once married, and then divorced then gets saved have been made “free” from the law so they could be married to another because they have died on the cross with Christ!

Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

I notice something, where the scripture speaks plainly to us as children of God and not the world. If God is speaking to each one of us, because we have the Holy Spirit in us. Why do you try to explain it away? Why do you even feel like you need to intrepid what the word of God says, to His own Children and He is our Father? You quote scripture good , then you foul it up, by stepping on it, beneath your feet in the mire and then you present it to people to drink.

some of our brothers and sisters in Christ are always trying to escape or find their way out of hardship, always hunting for escape Clauses, enemies of the cross. I have not read anything in “Holy Scripture” that said; since you have died on the cross, now , you who is a divorce person, are free to remarry again. People would be saying everyday, Divorcing their partner today, died on the cross tomorrow saying I’m born again, I can get me a new partner, hallelujah, praise God, He is good all the time.

If the wife does not want to live with her husband who is a believer she can divorce him, which makes the believing partner free to marry again, but only in the Lord!

@PloughBoy -- maybe you should simply accept Scripture. Yes, marriage is until death do you part. However. God's Word Is God's Word -- and there Are various situations that do happen in real life. And God's Word Does deal with those.

And one of the situations happens to be when two non-saved people do marry and one of them Does get saved. The non-believing spouce might not like the new actions of their saved spouce and decide to leave him/ her. The believing spouce is Not to make the non-believer stay. And that Did happen in a church we went to long ago. The wife went to a Bible study and accepted Christ after a while. Her husband was a successful business man and they'd gone to lots of parties with clients. There was drinking involved and she said she could no longer do that. So -- he divorced her and got to know another woman. They married.

The wife was now by herself trying to raise their two kids. After some years, the kids were old enough to decide which parents they wanted to be with and they chose their Dad and Step Mom.

The wife then met another man who'd been divorced a few years before that. They were both believers and got married and proceeded to have their own family. They were both involved in the church.

This part of scripture does not say: you can divorce and remarry. I do know English syntax. English translations are now a dime a dozen. They make them say, what they want them to say, mostly with a slight bias. The original text, when says divorce, it means divorce. When it says bound , bound to what? Does it says it plainly , not bound to what?
What does the “Codex Alexandria” or the “Textus Receptis” says? And what did that mean to the original audience, he was addressing at that time. “It was a letter” to The congregation in Corint.

Ok Sue, the ex wife remarried, to a divorced man. Plain and simple. They are adulterers! That is what the Word of God says, period. The institutional church is full of them. They do not care nothing about the word of God! “By their fruits , you will know them” come out from among them” or you will be contaminated , a little leaven will leaven the whole loaf. God explains this from Genesis to Revelation. With Israel, with his prophets, and has made it plainly between Jesus and “His congregation”

Most Christian do not understand marriage they do not have the slightest clue. It has never been about you! It is about “The Word of God”! The more you cast down your bias ways, and suffer in “The Truth” the more the light of God will shine into your understanding. “No cross, no crown”! Learn not the ways of the world and be not partakers of her sins. What is sin? (Missing the Mark)! I am talking about myself and the body of Christ. And do hope if one of us runs away from Him that He will not decide to divorce us as a people and marries another, but wait for us as the father did in the “Prodigal Son”
