Luk 21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign [will there be] when these things shall come to pass?
Luk 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
Luk 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end [is] not by and by.
Luk 21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Luk 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Luk 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute [you], delivering [you] up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
Luk 21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Luk 21:14 Settle [it] therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
Luk 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luk 21:16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Luk 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake.
Luk 21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
Luk 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Luk 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luk 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Luk 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luk 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

The gospel of Luke pretty much explains what is to come concerning Israel, as well as other gospels, on the signs of the end times. What we are seeing now is wars and rumours of wars, and this has been around for quite some time, time will tell. But pray for this situation and all involved...

I repect your opinion, there have always been wars and rumours of wars, but think of it this way. If we as christians didn't remind ourselves of the fact that the end is near we would have nothing to look out for. We wouldn't wait anticipating the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and we would look across to the world for our answers. Jesus is extremely clear about the signs of the end times. Earth quakes, tsunamis, famines, and pestilences are much worse in the year 2006 than in previous years. The facts speak for themselves. I think we shouldn't try and contest the end of the world, or even debate it. That's not my intention.

But I do think we should look towards God for the answers and ask Him to show us on a daily basis. The Bible says that we should be on the lookout for the second coming of Christ on a daily basis, that means it's not so much about the end of the world. The end of the world will come, but we the church will be raptured first and we will join our Lord. That is why it is so important to me, these verses tell me about the coming of Christ, I could care less about the world ending.

I think that not only we are provided with signs of Jesus' second coming so that we can be prepared and be aware that their will be false witnesses trying to deceive us, but also as something that is meant to remind us of the coming judgement and how important it is that we tell people about Jesus and God's love. It should prompt us to pray for friends and family who are yet to know God and his mercy. If Jesus returns before they know him they are going to hell...

The end times have intrigued me ever since I became a Christian 18 months ago. It seems to me that everything points to Christs return at basically anytime. This has been an enormous help to me personally - I think living with the belief that Jesus could return anyday has strengthened me in so many ways. I agree that we must labour intensively at this time to help as many people as we can to find Jesus - for he is the ONLY hope for any of us. But I think we must be very careful when discussing the end times as there have been many examples of people in the past that have done our cause harm with wild predictions about the end of the world. I am a new Christian - so please excuse me if I seem naive on this issue - just my thoughts at this point on my journey.

Amen good points by all:star: Jesus at the end of his prohecies about his second comeing says, watch and pray always that you may be worthy to escape all these things and stand before him.


Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
