Jesus Christ Gives Light and Life

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 8:12 NIV

'I just don't get it...'

The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment

1 Corinthians 2:14,15 NIV

God Loves You!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

John 3:16-21 NIV

Weekly Meditation

Christ lives in me

We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Galatians 2:15-21 KJV

I don't get this goes with this verse some people will not understand this because a carnal man or mind cannot understand spiritual things.

ShortLady the explanation lies in several verses before verse 14. I paste them here for your reading.

1 Cor 2:6-14

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
KJV

Paul is describing to the Corinthians that he is speaking to them of spiritual things that they can know and understand because they have heard, believed and have the spirit of God within them. Because of this paul knows that they will hear and understand while those that do not have the spirit of God cannot perceive the spiritual meaning of his message.

The confirmation of this "spiritually discerned meaning" we each experience as we read the Bible after we become saved. The experience I am describing ocurrs with me especially when I am reading a scripture I have read before. In these times I find that as I sit and meditate upon what I have just read and sometimes even as I read the verses a thought comes to mind that reveals something new, some in addition to what I have already learned. It is in these precious moments that I realize that the Holy Spirit has just revealed to me something new in the meaning of that scripture. Often it sends me digging for other confirmation elsewhere in the bible but it always leaves me with a sense of awe! A kind of speechless, OH My Goodness!? moment that leaves me warm, and comfortable and basking in the glow of a loving God.

I wish you many such moments filling a lifetime of discovery of the wonder and the love of the God we serve.

If your "I don't get it" means that you also have a question about how then do we reach the unbeliever? Repost here and I will be glad to share some additional thoughts on that subject.

In His Name
