The Jewish Passover was committed unto the Hebrews who were In captivity to the Egyptian Pharaoh. They were commanded to apply the blood of an unblemished lamb to their doorposts so the angel of death would pass over their home.
Exodus 12:1-13

In Ex. 11:4-10, God said that He would cause every firstborn of every person In Egypt to die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh to the firstborn of slaves, and everyone In between, including even cattle. However, in Exodus 12:1-13, God provided a way of escape from death for His own people, God promised that when He passed through Egypt on this night that If He saw the blood painted there, He would pass over that home and spare its occupants from death.

God has provided us Jesus, the way, the truth & the life, as our final Passover Lamb, one whom will take away the sins of the world, to all whom will believe and call upon his name.

Romans 5:8-10
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

We must have his blood covering applied to our hearts through hearing the gospel, believing in our heart and repenting of our sinful state to be reconciled to God. (Romans 10:9-18)

1 Corinthians 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover Is sacrificed for us:

This is our born-again promise to escape the second death after judgement.

Let us look to the Lamb of God who takes away our sins and who is our covering of righteousness before God!

This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1John 1:5-10
