Increasingly I have noticed in our large shopping centres in Australia, the reason for the season seems to be Father Christmas ( Santa Claus) , and family.
The other day I was walking in the mall of my local shopping centre, to see a large line of people with young children, waiting to be photographed with Father Christmas. It is great to see the children enjoying this fantasy, but, I only hope their parents also teach them that Christmas is mainly to do with Jesus. I somehow think many of the children are not being taught about the real reason for Christmas, and will grow up thinking that Christmas is the time only for family, friends and gift giving.
There are, of course people who do regard Christmas as being the time of Jesus's birth, but in my opinion they are becoming increasingly the
minority.
What is your opinion of how many people view this time at Christmas?
Is it very similar in your local shopping centres, that there is becoming a more commercial influence to the Christmas season?
Your comments are welcome.
