Christian, Jewish Leaders Respond to God TV’s Attempted Proselytization in Israel

I have include a link below, it is worth reading, not from the point of view of God TV, but from the Christian and Jewish beliefs, and Jewish fears. I have add just one paragraph from the message

So many Christians are totally ignorant of the Jews and their beliefs. On my first trip to Israel, I realized that I thought I knew the Bible, but I knew nothing. We have the Bible in our hands because the Jews shared it with us. That’s why it’s so important for Christians to visit Israel.

This statement, On my first trip to Israel, I realized that I thought I knew the Bible, but I knew nothing, should shout to us all to find out more about the Jews and the Bible. So many are ignorant of the fact Christianity is not another religion, if it wasn't for the Jews we would not be where we are today, we would all be lost in sin and all would pay the price Jesus paid for all who comes to the Father through Him and repents from their heart all their sins.

In their message, they include the following scripture from The Israel Bible, I have included below it the same verse in a number of different translations.

Isaiah 25:7 (The Israel Bible)
And He will destroy on this mount the shroud That is drawn over the faces of all the peoples And the covering that is spread Over all the nations:

Isaiah 25:7 (NKJV)
And He will destroy on this mountain The surface of the covering cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over all nations.

Isaiah 25:7 (NIV2011)
On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations;

Isaiah 25:7 (Complete Jewish Bible)
On this mountain he will destroy the veil which covers the face of all peoples, the veil enshrouding all the nations.

Isaiah 25:7 (New Jerusalem Bible)
On this mountain, he has destroyed the veil which used to veil all peoples, the pall enveloping all nations;

Romans 11:11-24
11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.
12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry
14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.
15 For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,
18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.”
20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble.
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.
Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

Ephesians 2:11-13 (NKJV)
11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh--who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands--
12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Romans 11:13-16 (NKJV)
13 For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,
14 if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them.
15 For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy;
and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Hi Paul,

It's a fascinating subject, God's relationship with the Jews. To be sure it's complex. Another Paul puts it like this-

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 10:1‭-‬4 NKJV

Is the Jewish psyche different from everyone elses? Other races also appear to have a zeal for God, Muslims for example but they also seem to drive straight past the open door that is Jesus Christ. He describes them like this -

And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’
Matthew 13:14‭-‬15 NKJV

One day I'll understand, until then we can only surmise and thank God that He has extended His invite beyond His flavoured people-

Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. Matthew 22:8‭-‬10 NKJV

Greetings Reba1

You are correct in what you say, we all agree.

But, was Jesus not a Jew?

Did Jesus not say, 'I am the vine you are the branches,' John 15

Was not the root of the vine from God, is God?

God is the root of faith, Jesus is the vine, believers, saved souls are to abide in him. The Jews were grafted into the vine, but God cut them out due to unbelief, not accepting Jesus. Gentile are grafted into the vine when born again, we cannot bear fruit any other way.

But as scripture states clearly, we are wild by nature to the original vine, the Jews are/were the original vine branches, they can be grafted back in, they are being grafted back in, the Messianic Jews, the remnant will be grafted back in.

We are saved by Grace through Faith, Romans 11 is so clear, we are to accept our position, in all things Jews First, Christianity does not replace Judaism, it is not a separate religion as many preach and thing. We are only grafted into the vine due to the Jews error, as they were pruned out due to not accepting Jesus, Yeshua ha Mashiach, their promised Messiah.

The vine and the root remain the same, Jesus is the vine, God is the root, the original lump. The same yesterday, today, forever.

We are to put Jews first, we are to pray for their salvation, we are to pray for Israel. We are to realise our position, a wild olive, grafted into the original vine and root, the lump.

Bless you

It is a very fascinating subject brother, I agree with what you say my friend,

Everything you say is reflected in my reply to Reba1 above.

Many Christian's still think on the lines, Salvation is ours (Gentile's saved souls). This was common in the early church, the RCC more so, it became common and a hate built up causing a divide, Christian's even calling Jews murderers for killing Jesus.

I recently read that the archbishop had contacted the rabbi's to try arrange a meeting to talk about Jesus, to get them to convert to Christianity. The barriers will be up from the start, the Jews don't want to be talked to about converting to Christianity, witness to be explain your beliefs and concerns, allow us to also. Explain your beliefs on the coming Messiah, allow us to share Jesus was/is the Promised Messiah.

Share what we are discussing here, acknowledge the root of the vine is God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There promised Messiah is Yeshua, share John 15 and these other scriptures. But also Christian's should understand how fortunate we are, many do, but also understand we are grafted into the original vine and root stock.

I believe the more Christian realise and accept we are grafted into the original vine and root the more the blessings will flow.

Without the root and the vine we cannot bear fruit we cannot survive, but ALL who are grafted in a reconnected literally to God, through Jesus, Jews and Gentiles.

Jesus says, I am the vine, you are the branches, abide in me and I will abide in you.

We are to put Jews first, we are to pray for their salvation, for them to come to Yeshua and be grafted back into the vine. We are to pray for Israel.

Bless you brother.

What makes a person a Jew? Speaking of nationality .

Greeting Reba1

All Jewish religious movements agree that a person may be a Jew
either by birth or through conversion.

According to halakha, a Jew by birth must be born to a Jewish mother.
Halakha states that the acceptance of the principles and practices of Judaism does not make a person a Jew.

Halakha is often translated as "Jewish Law", although a more literal translation might be "the way to behave" or "the way of walking". The word derives from the root that means "to behave" (also "to go" or "to walk"). Halakha guides not only religious practices and beliefs, but also numerous aspects of day-to-day life

Who were Rahab and Ruth?

Greetings sister

In short - They both converted to Judaism and married Jewish men. Feel free to add to this if you wish.

Blessings
Are we in agreement that Jesus is not what some may phrase as a literal or full blooded Jew? I am of the believe that understanding this opens the door to understanding the NT or Second covenant .
