Job 14:6-7 King James Version (KJV)
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Job 14:6-7 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

6 look away from him and let him rest
so that he can enjoy his day like a hired worker.
7 There is hope for a tree:
If it is cut down, it will sprout again,
and its shoots will not die.

6 Job wanted even God to leave him, alone this was a bad heart Job had developed because of what happened to him. We sometimes let our situations bring us down to a bad place but we should use them to further cling to the Lord. We thru the Lord can find joy even in the hardest time.

7 He is our hope, without Him any hope is false and not lasting. Trees do grow again but they take a long time it is much better to aid the trees growth, cut away the dead from the good tree so that the tree doesn’t die, God wants to do that in our lives.

Well in Jobs case he had everything stripped away, but God gave him more at the end than he had at the beginning. Trees are very resilient if they have good roots. They can grow back, they just need water. I wonder if there was a specific tree Job had in mind?

In genesis they seem to plant a lot of terebinth trees.

You can chop a cabbage tree right down to stumps and it will spring back again, bushier and stronger than before.
