Can you explain salvation (including what happens to the relationship when they sin) to a 5 year old not by simply supplying them with the information but by using the example of a parent/child relationship?

What would you say?

Aww, no replies, not one?

C'mon i know all you creative people are out there :)

This isn't a test.

Hopefully we can have fun and hone our skills at the KISS method of sharing our faith (Keep It Simple Stupid) lol

It's not about cramming all the important bits of information in, it's about sharing Christ, the person. So it's about what you say yes but as much about how you say it too.

Five year old's are tricky customers, they ask difficult questions lol

I have 2 of them that i see regularly, both from atheist parents and i never know how to share it in the context of something they know about such as their family relationships, something they can anchor the information to.

Things we did wrong keep us from God. God comes to live inside us and makes us new.

With our four children, who now are adults, my wife used childrens Binbles, and Bible story books. You plant the seed (the Word of God) and gradually nurture the child in spiritual growth, until one day they will ask you how to have Jesus live in us. You most likely will find this matake until they are in their teens to fully understand salvation. Again this may take sever times that the awaken to what Jesus is all about. A couple of our children were baptised twice, because they were not sure they fully understood what they were doing. Being baptised several times is not going to harm a thing. I have seem adults rededicate their life by rebaptising them over again. What ever it takes for people to bring their spiritual conviction to mature.

Bless you and your youngen'.s

with the guidance of God I was do my best to talk to a little one about God by saying " Just like you have parents here on earth you also have a daddy in heaven who knew you even before your mommy and daddy here knew you, He created you and formed you and knew everything about you way before you were even born.He gave you as a precious gift to your earthly mommy and Daddy. Mommy and Daddy love you so very much but your Heavenly Daddy loves more than you can even imagine and He has plans for you. Just like mommy and Daddy your Heavenly Daddy will protect you, He will always be there to pick you up when you fall, He will always catch you, He will tell you daily how much He loves you just like your mommy and daddy do each day and just like mommy and daddy He will provide for you and watch over you and do you know His name...It's Jesus and He is your daddy in heaven and you can go to Him no matter what and talk to Him He is always there for you and wants you to know that He will never leave you. When you feel scared or upset He wants you to come talk to Him like you do with mommy and daddy and even wants to hear when you are happy and He wants to share with you your accomplishments and He wants you to know He is so very proud of you and that you are precious to Him. You have three parents two here on earth that are mommy and daddy and you have Jesus your heavenly daddy...He was your first parent and just like mommy and daddy will be there for you no matter how big or old you get and just like you will always be mommy and daddy's little girl/little boy you will also to your heavenly daddy always be His child and just like mommy and daddy here on earth He will never stop loving you no matter what.

Some great replies here.

It's not easy to precis it down so thank you. Especially when you only spend a precious 10-15 minutes with a child.

Thanks for your help :)

When I was a child, they just said that Jesus saves us. He died for our sins. He brings us closer to God. Then they explain the crucifixion. I mean, I didn't have a heartfelt understanding of it, but I could tell you the story...

I would tell them a favorite quote of mine,
"Jesus loves all of us as if there were only one of us."

Its really easy !

Tell your child to ask God for the Holy Spirit. When he receives, he will speak in tongues.

Hello Diamondlight,

What came to my mind first was a story that was told to me about a young boy who listen to Billy Graham on TV when he was about 5 or 6 years old. When Billy Graham gave out the invitation for the people to come forth to give their hearts to Jesus... this little boy wanted to. We don't give childen enough credit ... they are not only wonderful; but they are brilliant and they understand more than we think. If this little boy understood Billy Graham's message, I am sure that your little one will understand when you speak to him (her) of Christ's love and what He has done for us.

I pray that the Lord will speak to all children of His love for them. You must admit they do have the eyes to see and the ears to hear better than we as adults who have been blinded by the cares and worries of the world. May we too have the hearts of children.

Blessings,
Snowrose
