Psalm 2:11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

It bothers me, but apparently this was practiced back then.

Luke 22:47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

As a man, I see French kisses on sides of the cheek and so I do wonder about that kiss we are to give God.

But then Peter and others said this;

1 Peter 5:14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Acts 20:37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,

Romans 16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.

1 Corinthians 16:20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

2 Corinthians 13:12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

A kiss of charity and a holy kiss.

That is certainly not being practiced in the church nor in public outings. I am not about to start either with all of that aggressive & provocative LGBTQ + campaign going on.

But I do hope in Him that He will perfect that which concerns me that I shall love Him as my God to kiss Him on the cheek with a holy kiss of charity when I see Him in Heaven.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

I tell you, my brothers and sisters are something else, in Christ Jesus.

Well here's a warning. In 1 Kings 19:18-21 it states the sin of kissing the Baal. This is in relation to the uprising in Israel to Jezebel replacing God in the temple and Elijah the prophet of God. Baal translates to Lord, or owner.

1 Kings 19
18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

The Semitic word "baal" (meaning '"Lord") was also used to refer to various deities of the Levant.

John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

I admit I have not seen this example practiced regularly either in any church, let alone by individual believers for me to follow Him by.

Maybe if we were barefoot and all and see the need to wash ours & their feet, but I can see how wearing the kind of shoes we have is why feet washing is no longer a practiced custom of our times.

As for greeting the brethren with a kiss, let alone the Son of God, I trust Jesus Christ when He brings me to perfection that I will kiss Him proper in Heaven and the brethren thereafter but now? Not a customary greeting of our times.

I kiss all of my sons even after they where grown!

Because the Bible said So!

And in many countries men still kiss men and hug them in greeting them! I have hug a many men in greeting them!

First it seems strange to them! But Sir I am A “Child of The Living GOD” and a Walk like one! And do Not act like a Christian because I Ain’t one!

To be a Christian you got to act like one!

And devils got that walk down pack!

If you are one of The sons of GOD no act is really needed because you are! If you are, no act is needed!:p

Do you have to think about that?

Hug fellow believers.. that I have seen and have done.

Have you kissed fellow believers? I just have not seen that practiced at all.

French kisses,.. yeah I have seen that, but I do not believe it was a Christian practice but a French one for kissing both sides of the cheek in greeting someone, usually a family member or close friend that has not been seen for a while.

I am not into romantic love kissing anybody

I am not into kissing church people, no way!

I do not think any modern day believer is, including me, when that Biblical holy kiss of greeting the brethren has fallen out of practice.

It does make me wonder about the origin of the French style of kissing someone on both sides of the cheek if it had its origin from that Biblical holy kiss or not.

It could have become adopted as a French kiss and dropped out of practice in church, but became a customary French kiss from there. It is pure speculation as I am not sure how one can find out of the origin of that French kiss of when & how it started.

I do not believe that is the Biblical form of charity in that kind of kissing since it is to be a holy kiss and not one done out of passion or lust.
In small lettering, what is a holy kiss?
I am Quite sure, you got your own private definition what that is.

How would you know that, your own private interpretation?
You would know if you have to look it up.

Just because I ask just now :eyes:

If I knew what it was, I'd be doing it. Since I do not know, but wondering about that French kiss, however, I am not doing it since I cannot find anything in the Bibe what that holy kiss of greeting is in how it is given to the brethren.

Well said. A gentleman and liken unto a biblical scholar.
