I also believe they are one and the same book. However there are other books which contains the deeds of your life.
Psa 69:27; Add iniquity to their iniquity,
And may they not come into Your righteousness.
Psa 69:28; May they
be blotted out of the book of life
And may they not be recorded with the righteous.
Php 4:3; Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose
names are in the book of life.
Can the book of life belong to anyone except the Lamb?
Rev 3:5; He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and
I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before
My Father and before His angels.
Who is the person talking about who names will be erased and who's name won't be erased? I would think it's Jesus since it says I will confess their name to...
"my Father". Is Jesus the Lamb?
Rev 13:8; All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone
whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world
in the book of life of
the Lamb who has been slain.
The term "from the foundation of the world" can be taken several ways. For the predestinists... it mean everyones names who will ever be saved
was already written in the book before they were born. The more common way this is taken... everyone who's name has not been written in the book
since the foundation of the world... (which could be last week, or yesterday, or even this morning). Everyone who has ever been in this museum since before we even had it built, has signed there names in this book. That book has been there 200 years, but the Jones just signed it last week.
Rev 17:8; “The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth,
whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.
13:8 calls in the "book of the Lamb". 17:8; simply calls it the Book of Life, but both passage say this book has the names of everyone who is saved
since the beginning of the world.
We get the to the passage in question here in Rev 20:12;
Rev 20:11; Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
Rev 20:12; And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and
books were opened;
and another book was opened, which is
the book of life; and the dead
were judged from the things which were written in the books,
according to their deeds.
Rev 20:13; And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and
they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Rev 20:14; Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Rev 20:15; And if anyone’s
name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
It says there are books that are opened... and "another" book which is the Book of Life. It says people are judged for "their deeds" that were
written in the books. It seems the books that contain your deeds, are not the "Book of Life".
Rev 21:23; And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
Rev 21:24; The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.
Rev 21:25; In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;
Rev 21:26; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it;
Rev 21:27; and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but
only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
It seems whether it is called the Lamb's book of Life, or whether it is simply called the Book of Life it doesn't matter.
Both ways it is called, have verses that say everyone who is saved since the foundation of the world have their names in it.
Both ways it is called say people can be erased out of it.
Both ways it is called say that if your name isn't in the Book, into the fire you go.
If there really were two books it wouldn't change anything. Then your name would just have to be in both of them
and your name would not have to be erased from both of them. ( more book-keeping
