Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

Is your mind dwelling on these things? Are you thinking the TRUTH ("Thy Word is Truth" John 17:17) . Or are you believing a lie?... which seems much easier? Which comes natural to you?

Are you letting you mind entertain only HONOURABLE thoughts? Is holiness the sum total of what you let your mind think? Or do you let your mind have a high on thinking unholy?... (which will drop you in a split second)

Are you intrested in always thinking RIGHT? ("Spirit of .... sound mind" 2 Timothy 1:7). Are you so passionate to be just. On the road, in the queue, about your taxes, ...

Is PURITY the hallmark of your thought process? ("The words of the Lord are pure words " Psalm 12:6) Are you so absorbed in purity that impure thoughts repel you? Or do you flirt with impure thoughts ?

Do you think LOVELY? Does thoughts of compassion, kindness, love and mercy fill your mind? Or are your thoughts ugly and disgusting? Is jelousy, hatred and bitterness prevaling in your mind?

Do you admire things of GOOD REPUTE? Does love, mercy, charity and help strike a good note in you? Are these deeds that you encourage? Is it done in truth by you? Or is notoreity the part of your thinking? Is vengence, revenge and anger being entertained?

Do your mind think of EXCELLENCE in what you are called to do? (Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31). Do you encourage excellence? Are you passionate about perfection? Do you see all that you do as an oppurtunity to " diffuse the fragrance of Jesus Christ"..? Are you aware that excellence should flow from the church? Do you believe that a child of God should set the standard for the world to follow? ...in business, education, music, art, literature etc. Or, are you somebody who thinks mediocre? Is you way of doing things naive and sub - standard?

Are you thoughts filled with PRAISE WORTHY things? ("Great is the Lord and worthy of praise") Do you meditate on God all day long? Do you let your mind wonder about God's ways? Or do you see miracles as coincidences?

True + Honourable + Right + Pure + Lovely + of Good Repute + Excellence + Worthy of Praise = JESUS CHRIST.

Let your mind stay on Him. Dwell your mind on Jesus.
God bless!!

Gideon, this is good and I like this verse alot, I have it on my fridge. There are many scriptures that refer to our minds and the way God wants us to think. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit dwells in us, but often things just don't change overnight. We still have old ways and think wrong thoughts, and speak wrong words and so we need the Word to teach us, and the Holy Spirit also convicts us when we mess up and He will guide us. We need to work at it aswell, but we can be transformed and living and thinking this way is possible with Christ.

2Corinthians 10:5
"Casting down every imagination and every high thing
that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God
and bring every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ"

Romans 12:2 "Don't be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
and ye may prove what is the good and
acceptable and perfect will of God"

God Bless You

Exactly calluna! You are right. We need to work at it.

1 Timothy 1:7,8
"But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come."

The Word is a gym you need to go into regularly and work out. Develop some spiritual muscles. Grow into the stature and physique of Jesus.

And the two verses that you mentioned are connected well with this one. Amazing!!!
