i read this somewhere and its put so much conviction on me and really touched me heart i wanna share:D I leave it in my bible case so i practically take it everywhere.
i dont really know where to post this so..here it is anyway:

"You are really convinced that you've got all the answers. You've really got yourself tricked into believing that you're 100% right. Well let me tell you just one thing. Do you consider yourself to be compassionate of other humans? If you're right about God,as you say your are , and you believe that, then how can you sleep at night? When you speck with me, you are speakingwith someone who you believe is walking directly into eternal damnation, into an endless onslaught of horrendous pain which your "loving" God created, yet you stand by and do nothing.
If you believe one bit that thousands everyday were falling into an eternal and unchangable fate, you should be running the streets mad with rage at their blindness. thats equivalent to standing on a street corner and watching every person that passes by walk directly into the path of a bus and die, yet you stand by and do nothing. You're just twiddling your thumbs, happy in the knowledge that one day that "walk" sign will shine your way across the road.
"Think about it. Imagine the horrors hell must have in store if the bible is true. You're just going to to allow that to happen and not care about saving anyone but yourself? If your right then you're na uncaring ,unemotional and purely selfish(expletive) that has no right to talk about subjects such as live and caring"
-A letter from an Atheist

Romans (:2-3, that i have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For i could not wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsman according to the flesh.
2Thessalonian1:8 and 9- in flaming taking vengance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our lord jesus christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the lord and from the glory of his power.

I have to say this, this puts so much conviction on me because this godless person is right! So much of the body of christ had been lulled to sleep! We get so caught up in other things that we forget the great commission, the very thing that jesus asked of us. I see the other teens in my area, the come to youth and they don't even know why they come(don't get me wrong i'm glad they do because gods gonna move here i know) but thats the case in so many places. Theres no passion for god! No understanding of the gravity of the fact that the end is near. We go to school every day and hear that someone had had wrong done to them or they've died or something. People are hurting and we as christians have the secret of the universe. Yet even we don't realize it, we go to church maybe every sunday and sometimes on wednesday to put on face and then do whatever we want the rest of the week. Never realizing that theres more to life, that god has more for us!!I don't understand how people can go through life and not want more! not dream!! not care that theres mor ethan just what we see everyday theres more than just what we see and what happens on this planet, we never look outside our "box". meanwhile gods lost children perish for lack of knowledge. And those that know the answer that have the cure never reach out like jesus did peter, and pull the them up.It hurts my heart brothers and sisters, and i know that im not the only one that feels like this. But i just want to say to the body wake up, and go for more go for god you dont have to know what your doing or where you going or how or why or when just GO!

as i was reading the letter i was thinking og me...that person is soooo....right
I mean i think it sad that the non-christians have to go to hell(cause alot of my friends are going tere)...but what do I do to change it??NOTHING!!!!Mybe all christians should think about what they do to save the non-chrietians!!cause i know that i dont do alot!
and it makes me feel sad that I had to hear it from a non-christian...
Tahnks for sharing the letter...it really woke ma up....thanks..
kara

That letter is so true.......so many times I could bring up the simple topic of religion with a non believer friend, but I dont. Non-believers know alot about other religions, and they study it hard to understand it. And we ourselves whom are christians dont know our beliefs and Bible that well. That is the second time this week that I have been woken up.

When you witness to someone its a win win situation he can either reject you, and then you can come back to him/her some other time and share the gospel. He/she could accept it and beccome a christian. Or he/she could completely not wanna talk to you about it again, but you get a bigger reward in heaven for witnessing. ;).

Thats what I do when I witness. Any answer I get I go, 'CHa CHing." lol

great post Created.

The problem with this letter, at least from the Athiests perspective, is it never calls into question the truth of Christianity. Even if all the followers of christianity were depraved drug addicts, that doesnt make the beliefs any less true. So if he rejects Christianity on this base, hes not very bright. To Reject the belief on the behavior of the believer is not only a logical fallicy, its a foolish thing to do. Esspically when the Doctorine of Said faith is that all people suck, and are going to sin and screw up.

Just some thoughts, If you ever see someone present this argument.

-Doulos

He is judging the entire religion based on the actions of SOME Christians, and that is unfair. We can't force someone to believe. Many Christians are passionate about witnessing and telling people about the Lord, but it is ultimatley up to each individual. Yes, we could run down the streets, scremaing in rage, but that would scare people off at the same time. Everyone has their own way of talking to someone about Jesus. Instead of focusing on how we talk to him about Jesus and what we are doing wrong, he should shift that focus on his destination after he leaves this Earth.

Doulos and adia, excellent response and same feeligns here.

This person is THE one "standing" there juding Christians for what they do and believe. That is illogical, stupid and "selfish" as he / she put it.

The person is a fool if anything, but sadly lost.

How about the fact that ALL have GOD given freedom to choose good or evil? So who's to blame who? We blame ourselves for our own wrongdoings and are commanded to forgive others for their wrongdoings against us.

And this person served what? I read no wisdom, no purpose nor any point made valid at all. Who is he to judge what Christians do or should do? What is he doing? Nothing but complaining

well said, Chad. everything he said was just critical and to yet another attempt to put a negative spin on Christianity.

tia not really about the person writing or where hes right or wrong but about the fact that he feels that way. For me is more about how saddening it is that this is true in many ways, there are many christians that are like that. im not asking anyone to defend anyone of anything but to step out themselves and do something, other than be like so many others in their own self righteousness and obliviousness to the pain of others.

Oh, I definitley agree that many are very selfish, but to turn away Christianity because of certain individuals actions is pretty naive.

Well believe it or not, I think both the athiest and you people are wrong. Why is there the assumption that all the poor people who have never heard of Jesus or never been called will roast in hell. From how I read things, the ones being thrown on the fire will be calling out "LORD LORD" and He will be saying "Inever knew you".

How can you proclaim a merciful God and then teach that if you are not a member of a Christian Church you will be frying.

Cheers

For those who never had the opportunity to know Christ, I'm sure there that God will make an exception. We are speaking of those who have the opportunity laid in front of them and refuse to accept Him. It is God's spoken word, and we all live by it as Christians. It is not something that you argue with when you have been in the presence of His glory and been witness to it. If you read the Bible, you will find many verses and stories of his mercy. Know God, and His ways will be revealed to you, and you will understand.

i agree winged grace, because theres a scripture in i think romans that says something to that effect. i dont want to try and paraphrase because i dont want to miss quote. But if someone lived on a remote island in the middle of the pacific and NEVER heard of jesus christ they would not suffer eternal damndation. BUT, the bible also says that men are born with the knowledge in theyre hearts of God.Have you ever thought about this: we know more about outer space than we do our own oceans, why? perhaps because since the beginnign of time man has been looking up because we know there is god. *gives me goosebumps*!! kinda off topic but Gof bless ya'll.
