Like Losing A Game

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to any Bible verses that give encouragement in a losing situation?

I did not get a staff position for a job on campus, but one of my close friends did. Normally I am able to shrug such things off, but I-I'm a bit jealous (and I know I shouldn't be but I can't help it!).

It feels like I've lost a game, which I am very competitive and I don't like losing. I take it hard.

These things happen.

My good friend, this may seem frustrating to you at this time. You said that you are competitive. This increases the frustration you feel. I hope that I do not sound too over the top. But, the priority you have is to focus on that which is above. Eye has not seen the wonders God has in store for you.

Perspective is everything, this event will be forgotten in time. I hope that in future you recieve everything you hope for. Especially a deep respect for the big boss Jesus Christ. Its His world, His people, His reality that we live in. Move on, you have a huge future waiting for you. Don't waste time worrying about what may seem important.

Check the Book of Psalms, especially the Davidic Psalms. David went through a lot in his life.
