The best place to look for answers on the Gospel is in the Bible and this verse helps alot.
The Gospel Message can be simply explained as follows:
God created us, He wanted (and still wants) a close relationship with us.
Our sins separate us from God, we need to be made right with God.
Sins cannot be removed by good deeds, a perfect sacrifice is needed.
Paying the price for sin, the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again.
Everyone who trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ receives forgiveness of sins and eternal life, this is the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Life with the Lord Jesus Christ starts when you believe and never ends.
