Hi everyone need some input. I'm a 22 year old guy who is going to accept Jesus Christ into my life this coming Easter. What does it mean if anything that whenever I hear a sermon wether it be at church or on the radio, it doesn't really like hit me or like I don't get anything out of it afterwards. Whenever I hear a sermon it's like I already heard that sermon but given by a different preacher or same message but put
differently.

Maybe I'm just confused, I'm not really paying attention to the sermons, not putting those sermons into action or something else. I don't know so any inputs would be nice. Thanks!

wow, you sound just like me when I was your age!

It is one thing to give a sermon, and quite another to preach what is on God's heart.

I once knew a pastor who was confronted by God. This pastor was told that he could go on preaching what he wanted to preach, or he could preach what God told him to preach. His choice was the preach what God told him to preach. Almost everyone left his church. Why? Because most people don't want to hear the truth. They just want to go to church to have a good time with their friends. But that church, where the pastor chose to preach God's sermons, was one of the best churches I ever attended. There was a small membership, but everyone was very committed and the truth was preached there.

I can only recommend that you pray that God will lead you to a church where you can be fed. Some would say you can get something out of every sermon. However, there really is a difference between churches. If you go where there is an anointing, you know it. Otherwise, you come away dry. If it is not possible for you to change churches, then pray before every church service that God would feed you through the sermon and give you more than was even contained in the original message! ASK BIG. God can speak to you during a church service even if no one else got anything out of it. I am not saying this will definitely happen every time you pray for it, but it is certainly something to ask for.

Pray for revival in your life, pray for revival in your church, pray for revival in your city. Keep seeking God until you get what you want - for He is able to meet your spiritual needs.

Matthew 7:7-11 (King James Version)

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

I'm curious about how/why you feel the need to put off the Holy Spirit until Easter to be saved? I wouldn't expect for you to get any sermon until you have the Holy Spirit operating in you when your born again?
Maybe I misunderstood.

I think its good the you are going to accept Jesus into your life.
Right now the most important thing you need to know is Jesus loves you and wants to save you and to give your life true meaning.
After you give your life to God through bible study, preaching of the word, prayer and fellowship with other
believers you will grow in God and begin to understand
these things more.
You don't even have to wait for Easter you can ask God into your life right where you are now! And then allow God to lead your life.
Praying for you.

Well!! I can amen all of you here!! I love that! It is Easter today!! Please read Acts8:26-40 Better then any sermon I could ever preach to you! Today is the day of Salvation unto you my brother, for tomorrow who knows what will happen!! I remember around your age as well,I was much like you,oh I am going to,when I have time!! A very good friend of mine who I was in Vienam with who always preached Jesus to me,I got so tired of him!! LOL he spoke to the men and told them of Jesus, one of the soldiers stated he would give his life to Jesus when he got out,he was warned not to wait!! He said well I have been here in Vienam for 3 years, and nothing has happened to me!! I will make it,as I only have a few more days before I get out! An operation came forth the next day,he was left at camp by the commander, because he was so short, when the troops got back, the camp had been attacked and he perished.I would be a fool!!! not to encourge you to make Jesus the Lord of your life TODAY!! For who knows what tomorrow will bring!! But remember this, there is a high price, the cost of serving our Jesus. please check out 2 tim there are only 4 chapters, and they speak of what the cost is,to me these chapters were written for me the Soldier, and I believe you will get much of of this! To follow Jesus is not easy, nor does it come without a price(Matt 10:35-40) But I can tell you my brother,it is worth every single second!! Do not wait my brother, today is your Easter Day!! and this promise to you from the Lord in me,so you will know Jesus is real!!Psalms 103:11-17 He loves you right where you are now,he knows you,and bless the Lord he has chosen you as well,to bear good fruit, and love him with all your heart!!(John 15:16) Please Make Jesus Lord of your life today!! Blessing to you!!

Follow-Yexus- the first and most important thing is to accept Christ sacrifice as your own, know that He was raised form the dead and accept Him (say yes to the drawing you are already feeling) as Lord in your life. It is evident to me that He is drawing you or you would not be considering this. As others have said there is no real point in waiting though.
Once you have done that the Holy Spirit of God will come and dwell in your heart. You will start to change from the inside out as He works His will in you. Then is the time to start reading the New Testament and learning His Word which is His love letter to you.
This is also a good time to find a good bible believing church (a group of believers) and be encouraged in Christ.
As you do all these things you will begin to see more and more of Jesus and His goodness. The more you know of Him the more you will want and learning to walk hand in hand with the Living God is the greatest journey in any life.
You are in my prayer,
your future brother Larry.

I'm sorry guys but I did a bad job of explaining or didn't say enough about the accepting God part.

Romans 10:9 (New International Version)

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I guess I already have been saved but just not with the publically confirmation of that of a Baptism. So Easter is when my pastor plans to do the next Baptism is what I meant when I said I will be accepting Jesus Christ this Easter. He likes to wait and have like a couple people 1st but he is more than willing to do it whenever people wishes. So I figure I don't want to be a hassle and right now I also don't have time to meet with my pastor to go over the baptism course that he requires.

So yeah I kinda of forgot about that part.

There is no guessing about it, you either called upon the Lord or you haven't. If you repented for a sinful nature and believe in the reasons for the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, then you are "Born Again" and saved.

Anything else is a mute point. I certainly hope your Pastor doesn't think that your salvation is predicated on you being put on hold to be baptized in water. Don't get me wrong, I have been water baptized, and think it can be a wonderful outward and public display of your commitment. I think from your follow-up comments, you would agree that water has nothing to do with your salvation!

One thing I would suggest to you is before the sermon or study of the Bible that you pray and ask God to speak to you directly. Ask for him to give you one thing that you can put into place for the next week. It might not be a earth shaking kind of thing, but little baby steps add up after a while.
Then, listen for that one thing that you can apply or do better in your own life.
Ultimately, the Holy Spirit is our teacher, not just the person who is speaking.
