Loneliness, standing for Christ ...

I've posted before about related issues, but lately i've been so lonely. I know few people at church I can relate to. My son is a non-Christian, as is his dad, whom I'm separated from. There is only one person who I can regularly talk with about deeper issues and ask for Christian advice, but she is very busy with a large family.

Yesterday I watched a television programme called Family Guy with my son and it was quite cuttingly funny but then suddenly it started mocking Jesus. He watches it a lot when he's at his dad's home, but with all the evil that pervades secular tv I'm thinking of getting rid of the television or at least Sky. But will this lead to more isolation?

None of my family are Christian yet and its becoming challenging being with them. I want to live a holy life and honour Jesus in all that I do, but i'm afraid yesterday I failed. I want to meet other people who really want to live holy lives too. I guess there must be other people at church who I could relate too, but everyone seems to be already in groups that they are comfortable with.

I wish I could go and live in a Christian community somewhere ...

It is true iron sharpens iron and we need to keep eachother warm so as we don't grown cold. My husband and I have moved around alot and finally settled here. I have made a couple of Christian friends, and I believe we have been a blessing to one another, but they too have very filled lives with other things. They are alot older than myself so there are some things we cannot relate upon. I have attempted to reach out to members in my church, but similar thing, they are settled in friendships or we really are not on the same page.

It could be that this time of lonliness or lack of friendship is a time to just grown closer to the Lord, that we need to be fully reliant upon Him for our needs. We can still pray for friends to come into our lives.

As for the television thing, I have wanted to chuck mine out the window many a time. If the Lord is convicting you of this, then that is between you and He. Being very discriminating and discerning of tv programmes is something that we all need to practice. I have improved alot in this area just by listening and obeying the Lord. There is alot of junk though and I still fail at this. I believe not having a television altogether could enrich our lives considerably. It certainly could open up a whole new world for us and help families grow closer and be closer to God. On more than one occasion I have asked my husband that we have a no tv night. It still hasn't happened.

It is important to be with family, as challenging as it may be at times, if you are the only believer, as I am in my family. I believe we are to represent the Lord so that our family members will come to know Him. Remember that we all fall short of the Glory of God, that Christ died for All, and none of us are perfect. Just Love your family the best way you can, focus on the good stuff. If the visits and times together become too overwhelming, just take time out alone to replenish your spirit in the Word, and pray. Make the visits shorter for a while and the phone conversations short and sweet.

Strengthen yourself in the Word and prayer prior to visiting with them. Just as we are to arm ourselves daily (Ephesians 6:11-)and especially before venturing out into the World. We are going to encounter non-believers everyday, we are in the world, but are not of it. We are ambassadors for Christ and so we cannot isolate ourselves, even though it is soooooooo very tempting to hide away. We are going to fail at times and we will certainly will miss the mark, make clumsy mistakes and say stupid things or act the wrong way. Yep been there done that., but we don't give up on doing our job and that is to go out and share the gospel, through word or action, share Christs love, become more like Him so others will be drawn to His spirit. When we walk in His spirit and stay close to Him, these failures will become less.

May the Lord bless you and that you have a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy His peace and the security of His everlasting love for you.
