Hi everyone, I am looking for some suggestions. I am quite addicted to drinking and I feel like it's going uncontrollable. I'm getting frequent headaches and I can't concentrate on my works. I am thinking to take help from some recovery center. Can someone suggest me a few good ones? My friend suggested this addiction center in Toronto called Freedom from Addiction. Does anyone know about it? It would be great if someone can help me with your valuable suggestions. Kindly pray for me.

Praying for you Gracehill27 !

I do not know of any recovery centers. But I can tell you from my experience of being a alcoholic that Jesus is the only one that can truly free you from this enslavement. If you do go to a recovery place I would suggest that is be Christ centered and not secular.

And this is why, I know people who have quit drinking for years and years but were still enslaved by it. The quit on there own will-power through some program, yet they still "wanted" or "desired" to drink or use. I was out to lunch with a freind of mine not to long ago, and he was a drug addict, has not used drugs in 20 years, now this man has everything the world offers, house's boats, lake house etc... I asked him about how it was being cleaned, and he said he fights its every days, and the desire is still there (not exact words) he said he misses it, was not happy about it. Now I to was a addict and used with this guy, yet Jesus took those desires away from me, and it makes my skin crawl to think about the days of drinking and drugging.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Jesus Christ is the only one who can take that desire away !! he can completely free you.

I suggest seeking the Kingdom of God like you never have before, starting with getting on your face (yes literally getting on your face) and pray to God for help and forgiveness, all day if it takes that. Then I suggest getting into the word of God and doing a bible study on drunkards, it aint pretty and may just scare you into sobriety. Then I suggest the next time you mess up and get drunk you fast the next day, and do that every time you get drunk to show God you are serious.

When you seek the Kingdom of God all else is made well
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Fasting is the only way to deal with some stubborn sin IMO
Mark 9-29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

you are in for a battle of your life, put your trust in Jesus, most of the time the healing takes a while so be patient, and endure and keep seeking.

May God free you from this enslavement in the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray for you

Dear gracehill27,

You are very very brave. :) Many people who are addicted don't want to see it as a problem and it's pretty hard to convince them that they need help. If you think you are in the moment where you need help it must serious. No one knows you better than yourself.

Can't suggest you any rehab center but maybe somewhere around you exist any community of people or association of ex-addicts? Sometimes they organize meetings and help other people. You can also try anonymous helpline maybe?

I truly believe you can change your life. You're enough strong!

P.S. personally I think people can't be "quite addicted". In addictions exists only two sides. Addicted or not addicted but that's my opinion.

sending love and positive vibes :)

Greetings @gracehill27

Drink and/or drugs are so easy to get addicted to. They take control of your life, they give you short term release from the worlds issues, but once worn off, the problems are still there, we are just financially more worse off that we were initially.

It is really good news you are seeking and considering help, as Joanne said, many are in denial they have an issue, so that is a positive start. Well done.

You need help though, professional help for the addiction, even going to groups and listening to other peoples stories, how they got mess up, but have come through and are set free from the addition.

Do you have Christian friends or fellowship Grace? This is important also, you need comfort, you need friends who don't have a drink problem, you need encouragement, and you need prayers. Be assured many who read your message on here will be praying for you.

We look forward to hearing how you are doing, what help you are getting, be encouraged, we are praying for you.

Jesus loves you Grace, we do too.
