"He laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight". Luke 13 : 13
For 18 years she had been bowed over, held in bondage. Jesus proclaimed to her a glorious deliverence; but that body was weak. Then came that divine touch, with all the divine power flowing through it. And we are told that "immediately she was made straight". Its wonderful.
The touch that brought renewal. Do you long to live a righteous life? You long to live a life that is erect spiritually, upright, straight. Claim the freedom that has been purchased for you on the cross. Place that life of yours this moment, and then moment by moment, in the hands of Jesus; and the mighty power of God will course through your life, enabling you to live the straight life. "God sending His own Son.....that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Made straight? Oh not by your own efforts. Not at all. But by the mighty power of God, moment by moment. The truth that brought release, and the touch that brought renewal. And the woman that had been bowed for 18 years went away that day straight. Think of her - straight in the home, straight in the street, straight among her friends, straight wherever she went, because the divine touch had been upon her.
My dear friend if only you will claim that freedom that has been bought for you on the cross, and will yeild your life utterly and unreservedly to the Lord Jesus, and allow the mighty power of God to be yours unreservedly, you too can be straight in the home, where you work, or where you study. It may not be easy: the pressures may be severe - but straight by the grace of God.
