SignUp Now!"Interestingly, Dr. Sproul says he was “deeply immersed” in charismatic circles in the 1960s and that after receiving about 40 to 50 false prophecies—according to his report, they were specific prophecies with specific dates and details that never came to pass—he said to himself, “You know, I’m going to live my life by what it says in the Word, because I know the Spirit has superintended that. "
I guess I don't know what you mean by this actually. But whatever his walk in the Lord was a good thing. Just like it was good that Luther was guilt ridden. He desired freedom!was “deeply immersed” in charismatic circles
Thank you for the encouragement.Prove everything by the scriptures with Jesus Christ at that throne of grace, brother, even myself and yourself too. No one is perfect yet and apostasies abound in these latter days.
Scripture cites the role of the Holy Ghost is to testify of the Son thru us per 1 Corinthians 15:26-27 and that purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ per John 16:14. That means those led by the Spirit of God will have their focus on the Son & His words per John 14:26 and not on Himself i.e. the Holy Spirit. So all the more for why there is to be no worship of the Holy Spirit with the Father & the Son because that is not Who the Holy Spirit would lead us to testify of in seeking the glory of in order to honor & glorify God the Father. John 5:22-23 & John 13:31-32 That is the mind of Christ we are to have in obedience in worship Philippians 2:5-13 as the Son is the One working in our lives thru the Spirit in us Philippians 1:6-11Its the main reason so many christians focus almost exclusively on scripture and not the Holy Spirit. They dont know enough about the Holy Spirit in how to seek a greater presence in our life, and how to determine the Holy Spirit versus "feelings". They dont teach stuff like this in any church I have ever been to, so I have had to learn it on my own. Well, strike that, I had lots of help from God and alot of seeking "how" the Holy Spirit tends to work with people, and then saw how some things worked more with me, and learning that the Holy Spirit always wants to gently lovingly encourage us, or make us a "bit" apprehensive about something, but it doesnt lay a huge guilt trip on me, typically thats satan. But the Holy Spirit tends to work with us in the ways that tend to get through to us more. If you are afraid of listening for the "voice" of the Holy Spirit, and only trust scripture like most christians, then the Holy Spirit will try to enliven you when you are reading scripture, and if you read regularly then you will probably eventually come across something that the Holy Spirit wants you to focus on more so. But that method, although it works, it works very slowly, so learning to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit will go far in increasing your faith and your growth in the Lord.
Typical conclusion of what I call a pharisee reaction, Did you know that the pharisee's knew the OT 10x better than most disciples did? Knowing God's words alone is not enough, you have to act upon it, and part of that action is to be like the apostles and first century christians. They used the Holy Spirit so much more than people this day and age, and it was those actions under the influence of the Holy Spirit that even allows for a new testament, much less all the spur of the moment decisions based on the leading of the Holy Spirit.Scripture cites the role of the Holy Ghost is to testify of the Son thru us per 1 Corinthians 15:26-27 and that purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ per John 16:14. Typical of the Pharisees that say but do not do as they say? Yet Jesus corrected them by the scriptures, especially when defending His claim to deity which provoked them all the more.Typical conclusion of what I call a pharisee reaction, Did you know that the pharisee's knew the OT 10x better than most disciples did? And nothing works at all when a supposed correction is done without scripture but it seems to be the going trend in Christian circles in these latter days. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
