Lust, Get Behind Me.

Let me ask you a question. Do you battle with lust? Do you find yourself in constant turmoil? Well, a lot of christians, secretly, battle with this issue. This is a hard issue to just walk from and be delivered. Well, I'm going to help some of you through this and know that faith without works is dead. The word says in 1 Cor. 6:9,"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind." This is important to know, because as Christians, we know better. Those that read the word and understand it, know to not just be a hearer of the word, but a doer. Are you a doer? Let's go to Galatians 5:16-22. These scriptures talk about the Spirit and the flesh. Which one are you more in? Can we honestly answer that question? It says,"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these;

Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murderers, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in the time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God..." I bet you're saying right now, Man, why is she giving me all these scripture. Sweetheart, you need to be delivered. You may not want all these scriptures, but they are a way of life. This is the way out of hell, these are instructions. The scriptures go on into the 23rd verse saying,"But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Are we working in the fruit of the Spirit? How much time do you spend with God daily? I know and understand that lust is warring against you, but we must capture this spirit and hold it down. It will give up and go back to hell where it came from. A lot of Christians who battle with is spirit are truly oppressed and deal with on their down time. Thinking, one day it will just fall off me and then I'll be free. But you know that's not true, you must seek the face of God and his word. You meet you a guy or a lady, and the Lord knows you're not ready, but you can not hear his voice. Lust is speaking. Yes, it has a voice that tell you to pursue and it feels so right.

WHERE'S YOUR CONVICTION, CHILD OF GOD? 2 Chronicles 7:14 says,"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."If you are in this type of situation, you really need to repent and reprogram you thinking. Don't challenge yourselve with sin, but with pure thinking and pure actions. You may say," It's harder than you think." Well, this is from experience, going with it day after day just makes it worse. Another thing, what you watch on television and the type of friends you hang around with can affect you as well.

The word says,"Bad company corrupts good character." Pornography can be an addiction which I had when I was in sin. STAY AWAY FROM THAT MESS!!! Hosea 4:6 says," My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge." Do not be destroyed because you don't know how to over come. You do know how, be holy and righteous. Crucify your flesh daily, but if you don't, YOU WILL FALL!!!!

Thank you Humbled 1 for bringing up the real issues that affect our daily live's . You gave a very balanced , a scripture backed word in your thread .

Lust playes on all the Children of God , but unless it is a sexuall lust , it is not percieved as lust . The root of lust is covetousness and idolatry . 2 of the ten commandments . Love gives , and lust takes . Simple in it's truth . But lust tries to hide only behind the mask of sexuall sin . This only causes lust to have a more deceptive power over us .

Only in a true intimate relationship with our Lord do we have a chance to overcome lust in every area of our live's . Jesus Christ forsake all thing's that he may fullfil the Fathers plan of redemption . We also must come to the place of total thanksgiving , in whatever place God may have us . God said in his word that he would and has provided all our needs through Christ our Lord .

If we all take a look into our live's , we will see that what we need , and what we want are much different . What we want ,without it being what we need is the biggining of subtle lust that will lead to covetous , and idolatry . Thank you again , and God bless you ! :love: :boy_hug: Mike
 
thankyou for a true reflection of what lust really is, it has really opened my eyes, have any of you brothers and sisters got a real comparrison of lust (passion) vs love in a relationship sence, i know what gods word says bout love in 1st corinthians but i was looking for a breakdown, ie can love have passion without lust being involved? to me love is a desision and lasting commitment, lust is a tempory impulsive that brings stife.
i would be greatfull for your comments

excellent post brother Mike!!! most think of lust as sexual sin but just as you have said, it is uncontrollable desire for anything worldly. very clear and full of truth.

If anyone desires to be free from temptation, they must do only two things:


Jam 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist (stand up against,oppose) the devil, and he will flee from you.

This is how we release the power of God into every area of our lives.
If you are struggling with temptation week in and week out,
you have`nt learned to submit your mind to God, and resist every thought
that is not of HIM! It is a very simple process, yet very powerful!
When a temptation enters your mind, (this is where the seed of temptation is first planted) you can either take pleasure in it, after all what`s the harm right, its only thoughts, and you have`nt actually done anything, it`s your dirty little secret. NO! Submit that thought to God, the very second it enters your mind, say God I do not want this thought, it is not from you!
Do you see in the verse what happens when you do that? Satan FLEES!
(this word literally means run away or vanish) If he dares to bother you again with the same temptation, do the same thing again! You will soon find that temptation is`nt a problem for you anymore! Quit getting bogged down in satan`s quicksand, and stand upon the Word of God! It is an unmovable, unshakeable, unsinkable ROCK, for those who will stand upon it!

This is certainly a great thread! This is probably one of the worst issues facing the world today. Its a spiritual disease, plague that affects everyone either through endless temptations all around you and / or the action of lust itself.

Thank you for sharing the verses (everyone). This is a serious matter that all should fight against by the power of the Holy Spirit of Christ.
